Very Roadcraft.

Seems reasonable, that's pretty much how I ride. I like the liberal use of the RHS of the road. It'd be very interesting to see if you could pass a mod 2 riding like that though. I'd expect to get failed for the lack of obvious mirror / shoulder check during all that weaving around.. Tut Tut

The rear bike carefully put himself in a position where the front bike was blocking his view a few times. I guess police training covers X ray vision.

And nice justification at the end for the failure to return to the left after overtaking. Special rules, right? Wink

Find 1:04 and tell me 2nd bike is in the best position. Surprised

I'm 100% sure they will have a full and valid reason. Liar

Exactly.

The Most Holy Roadcraft even says don't sacrifice safety for visibility. You put yourself out there so that you can see a hazard jn order to move away from it. You don't hang around out there just to make a point.

Or apparently you do. Whistle

I don't agree with some of that, I never take a wide approach to a blind corner for 'better visibility' if you do that round here some dickhead will cut the corner and you'll be off before you know it, I'll carry on hugging the inside Thumbs Up

^^^You never take a wide approach? Never?
I understand your use of local knowledge but in general it's best to have a good view in a safe position using the mantra of 'can I stop in the distance I can see?'.

Oh, you're fine as long as you don't meet a Roadcraft trained driver or rider coming the other way. Wink

You'd expect someone to be coming and be ready to move over, but the idea is that you're looking for a hazard that you couldn't see from the inside of the bend until it's too late, like a stopped vehicle or crud all over the road.

I do think some of that was a bit ostentatious though.

I didn't know that riding on the right side of the road for extended periods of time was allowed. Interesting.

And tell me if they saw one of us doing some of that it wouldn't be a pull, attitude test and a ticket.

A pair of patronizing wads. All the captions...go fuck yourselves, you pedestrian wankers.

Too much crossing or going across broken lines for police riders.
Our police riders don't do these. Rules for broken lines are same though.
This may be nationality difference.
I found them too close to on coming cars few times. Why they don't regard them risky.

There's nothing that makes it an offence (solid white lines excepted)

Of course, if you or I did it, we might expect to received a Tut Tut lecture about care and consideration.

Here, police officers on motorcycles are people in their 40's, that got their motorcycle licence during the mandatory army service we used to have for every male, 2 years - when 18+, you could do licence for anything with engine for free in the army. Then they did not ride a thing and after years their mate supervisors decided to let them ride the police motorcycles. Then when ever there is a boy racer in a car or on a motorcycle, they let them get away, or crash, because they can't ride it.

I'm not saying every police officer on motorcycle is like that, but most of them are. So riding like them I'd be dead by now. Smile

This how I usually ride (I'm the camera bike). Note the real world hazard at about 2:32.

Could you imagine riding like that with a police car behind you?? While you're technically doing nothing wrong, I guarantee you'll get a tug for it. Rolling Eyes

I can not only imagine it, I lived it. That pretty much summed up my Bikesafe ride, where I was 'offsiding' regularly with a police bike following me (and, in fact, 'offsiding' even more extremely than me).

I had that debate with the local IAM. Apparently they can see through hedges, over blind hill crests and such. Very impressive.

IMO (and it's an unshakable O) the goal of Roadcraft devotees is not to ride safely, but to ride quickly while convincing themselves that it's safe because there is A System.

Most of it seems good in principle. It's the application that I can see in practice which disappoints.

Careful now.

Agreed. Not sure I'll ever get into that situation as you hardly ever see the popo out in the sticks near me but its handy having that link on my phone for reference in the field. Thumbs Up
