YO!
Spent last couple of days trying to get insurance down. Im 23 with 1 years no claims, have had full licence for 6 months and ive been riding my 2000W CBR600FX for the same amount of time. My renewal has come through from current insurers (carole nash) as £415 TPFT. Phoned them though and they will do it for £385 at a push.
Lowest quote so far was with some company out of fast bikes that got it down to £345 with breakdown cover in UK and Europe. Worst so far [name and shame bloodsuckers] Norwich union who definately didnt quote me happy at £2047.
Called loads out of the yellow pages and almost all are brokers and mostly come out at about £500. Six of them ended with a company called Zenith and even with the same company the quotes ranged from £465 to £530 (b@stards ripping people off for same cover).
Anyway there must be a point to this thread I hear you ask? Yeah, give me some GOOD insurers names not robbers like bennets who are just going to put me onto Zenith again!
Cheers folks

I saved over £200 on MCDirect compared to any other quote. I would recommend them. (have not taken it out yet) |

Get MCN, ride, T.W.O or any other bike magazine go to the back and there are about 1000 companies to ring at the back. Happy hunting. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. I've got two bikes insured with Motorcycle Direct - very good cover on a fully comp policy and good prices.
However if you really want cheap insurance, give Danny a shout - he will save you loads for a small fee ____________________ I spend all my money on bikes and beer, the rest I simply waste! |

Well CIA whom I am with are very cheap, as are Motorcycle Direct which has been mentioned before.
On another note I think Danny stops his insurance service today due to new law which came in force 23 minutes ago. |

As an aside, when renewing, how long can you leave it before renewing/ insuring a new bike and keep your ncb? Also, I presume hopping about and changing companies to get the best deal every year is worth doing, as your original company might not be the cheapest any more? ____________________ I must not be a troll...

On a side note, I have been calling round this week for car insurance. I actually managed to tell 'More Than' why they are called that, as their premium was over 100 more than all other firms! |

get this I'm in london the cheapest i managed to get my insurance was £820 (carol nash i.e. zenith, which employs a random number generator every time you get a quote) tpft. this for a new xr125. I just had to bite down on the pencil and take it like a man. You get reall shafted just cos your in london.
But then again me bike was nicked last weekend. ____________________ Daddy or chips?? |

Yo guys, having read one of my copies of RiDE whilst in the bog - the one with the ride power-survey and the one with Annabella in it, i've found that RiDE recommends "Footman James"
Contact 0845 458 6782 -www.footmanjames.co.uk
here's the breakdown of overall rating of insurers in RiDE
1) Footman James -84%
2) Mitchell and Partners - 79%
3) DW Laxton 78%
4) The Policy Shop - 78%
5) Carole Nash - 77%
6)Bike Team 77%
7) Honda 76%
8)
H&R 75%
Lancaster - 75%
Yamaha - 75%
BMW - 75%
9) Virgin 74%
Motorcycle Direct 74%
10) Pemium choice - 73%
I don't know what the percentages correspond to as it's cumulative and includes factors like renewal prices, customer satisfaction, legal advice, settlements etc.
Previously i had used Mitchell and Partners and found their service really good and the cheapest i found for my NRG. However, i now use Motorcycle Direct - i think in MCN they have the numbers for specific makes of bike - usually the big Jap 4 companies, but i'm not too sure whether it's cheaper using those numbers or using the general MCdirect line - but nevertheless it was at least £250 quid cheaper to insure my XR TPO with them compared to CIA or Bennetts.
So give MC Direct a try or try footmanjames and see what their like - i wanna give em a go too, but my renewal's not due till august.
Hope you guys find this useful?
