We've probably all seen the vid by now but
just noticed on the beeb site the rider's been done for dangerous driving and said in court:
"I was in full control until I hit the fence"
In control?
OMG
WTF
STFU
Is that the best you can do?
Obviously not a canny bcf-er who would have probably
worn a suit, kept a straight face and said something like
they'd just overtaken a KTM rider and went too fast cos
he thought he was going to get chased, robbed and bum raped
for his cheek
"There's a lot of that goes on yer honour, I seen it on BCF.
well not exactly seen it, not yet, but was told about it
and waiting for the video to upload, but they don't lie on bcf"
" By the way, I'm parked on the pavement outside, thass ok Innit?"
and got off with a caution.

2.30am is not the time to be laughing as loud as I am when I read that... not when there are people sleeping inches away from me on the other side of the wall.
Fuck me, that's a terrible excuse. In no way was he in control, sure going for the wall may have been deliberate rather than hitting the car... but if he was in control he'd have kept the bike on the correct side of the road.
Take his licence away, with excuses like that he's obviously too stupid to be allowed on the roads.
I'm not sure which is more concerning... whether he thinks that excuse might wash, or if he actually believes it.
Far be it from me to judge him... but I will. Stood outside the court on his phone smoking with his skinny tie he looked like a right chav... wouldn't have surprised me to find out he used to be a trackies-wearing pedboi or riding up and down the street doing antisocial wheelies.
Part of this opinion is formed by jealousy that he can afford a better bike than I can, and anger that he rode said bike so hopelessly that he crashed it into a wall.
Seriously though I'm not sure what he expects, he puts up a video of him riding badly, well in excess of the speed limit, with no apparent skill or flow which results in him crashing and nearly hitting an oncoming vehicle. Open and shut case, no doubt it was dangerous riding.
"the way he/she drives falls far below what would be expected of a competent and careful driver, and it would be obvious to a competent and careful driver that driving in that way would be dangerous"
Side issue... why does the landowner want £1000 compensation. Surely he can just claim off the riders insurance for damage to property. That is what 3rd party insurance is for. (Unless the rider wasn't insured? which would be a further nail in his coffin) ____________________ Current Bike: 1999 Honda CB600 FX Hornet

It appears the last corner was longer than he expected, rather than keep bike leant over he brakes, panics and target fixates on the car/fence.
Are survival reactions a crime (if noone is injured, no harm caused..)? they can and do happen to anyone. |
That is only a very short part of the video... he was riding erratically, and riding aggressively close to another bike in the build up to this, hustling the other bike for quite some distance before finally overtaking in a questionable move, but that was edited out for BBCs article.
His positioning for that last corner was all wrong in the first place, he was too far left and ended up apexing before the corner tightened.
His speed he was riding wouldn't have been dangerous in itself, but if you are going to ride that fast, your positioning needs to be much better.
If you're going to hug the near side on a left hander then your speed needs to be reduced, its simple stuff really. ____________________ Current Bike: 1999 Honda CB600 FX Hornet

His riding's not that bad, a bit straight line hero (the first bike he was following was better), but he ignored the slow signs and carried too much speed on the wrong line.
To then upload it to YouTube and get himself charged with dangerous driving is his fault Most people would have been embarrassed and burnt the video, he's just made himself look a tw@, made bikers generally look tw@ish and lost his bike plus however much the farmer gets for his fence (which won't cost a f**king grand ). ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

He was doing ok until he went too fast round that last bend and bottled it. That R1/6 was holding him up big style. The inexperience of youth...
Odd that his 1st reaction on landing was to pick up the cam and keep on filming. I'd have thought he'd swear a lot! ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Yup, the pass looked fine. I imagine there's some beancounterish calculation about the distance it takes for a 60mph car to overtake a 40mph HGV... because of course nobody would exceed the speed limit to overtake.
That, or it's deliberate killjoying in order to push the traffic elsewhere, so that it becomes some other county's problem.

About covers it. Read his comments on the video, he comes across as a proper hanger-hurling Jizz Bunny, and apparently continued that right through to his "defence" in court.
Gone a bit quiet now, though. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
