Chaps

Could you all keep your eyes open for a 1991 Trek 8000 in white with the black splatter and blue stickers on a silver background in 18" size. Had one when I was 15 and would like another.

At the time they were a pretty popular bike with a fair few hundred sold in 1991 alone but all seem to have disappeared now. I suspect they are in peoples shed or the back of bike shops as they are unfashionable now so if anyone see's one can they get contact details please?

Looks like it was the same specification as my 1991 Trek 970, but with an aluminium frame

https://www.vintage-trek.com/images/trek/91/1991TrekCatalog.pdf

I went for the 970 because the frame was handmade in the USA. It was a £1000 bike at the time, so your parents must have been pretty generous Shocked

It's still in the cellar at my parents house, but I can't bring myself to sell it, even though it's probably worth £400 to a collector

Blimey, that is not at all a specific request!

Found this one that is way too big on Gumtree, but full XT apparently for £75, no idea on age, would guess late 90's, early 00's?

Edit:- This frame came up for sale in the US only, but goes to show they come up now and again.

I paid for it myself, that was when I first worked for Shimano/Madison/Ridgeback at the grand age of 15. I also only paid about £450 for it new Wink RRP was a shade under £800.

Its worth about £100 not £400.

Looks like I just got what I wanted, should be delivered on Wednesday night at a cost of £84 including delivery by courier from Manchester.

Looks all original except for the front mech, even the tyres are original.

Its not perfect, the front mech needs changing and the front shifter doesn't seem to work but I am happy with it for £89 all in.

No temptation there, these are fast light bikes and I have enough other bikes anyway.
