Looks like it was the same specification as my 1991 Trek 970, but with an aluminium frame

I went for the 970 because the frame was handmade in the USA. It was a £1000 bike at the time, so your parents must have been pretty generous
It's still in the cellar at my parents house, but I can't bring myself to sell it, even though it's probably worth £400 to a collector |

Blimey, that is not at all a specific request!
Found this one that is way too big on Gumtree, but full XT apparently for £75, no idea on age, would guess late 90's, early 00's?

Edit:- This frame came up for sale in the US only, but goes to show they come up now and again.
