Thanks for sharing your experience. These look really decent, how is the protection at the front of the boot - is it very flexible/stiff? |

I'm using Alpinestar smx plus (£190 on offer)at the mo and they are very good, feel nice on and look as if they offer very good protection which you'd expect to come to the fore in an off.
Having said that my 70 quid Diadora have lasted well and been very comfortable but I'm quessing wouldn't offer the same level of protection in an off.

Sidi's [vortice/vortex - I forget which now] and Alpinestars SMX's I would say have been good boots in terms of 'what feels safe' - haven't crashed in either though [Trainers did a suprisingly good job that time ]
However; they were unbearably noisey - squeaking, creaking and grinding everytime I walked anywhere, to the point it became irritating in garage forecourts and the like.
Currently using a pair of Black Brand boots from Ghostbikes. Might not offer the total brace-protection that some others do, but theyre waterproof, comfy, even for walking long distances, and damn cheap at sixty quid.
I wouldn't mind a braced pair of boots - I just found them all to be incredibly uncomfortable and inconvenient the minute you aren't riding. Beyond that i've just tended to go for whatevers cheapest/waterproof with basic protection. |

These look nice, is there some flex at the front of the boot since its not hard plastic like some other MTX style boots? Do you get a good feel for the gear pedal when riding? |

I saw the Sidi B2's in the flesh earlier today for £225 at my local Honda dealership but unfortunately they didn't have my size, they look similar spec as the TCX S-R1's but I've only seen the TCX's on the net so far.
They also had the Alpinestars Supertech-R for £315 looks similar to the SMX but its more than I can afford at the moment.
Thanks for suggestions so far, I'm planning to go hanger lane to try on some different models soon.
