Advert.
Looks OK, but there are a lot of SVs out there.
The big problem for me is that it's done nearly 30,000 miles. There are plenty of garage queens with much less than that on them. I'd just keep scrolling.
The "extras" add the square root of sod all to the value. Challenge: find an SV of that age that hasn't had a parts catalogue thrown at it.
I agree about the VED. Also, if you give a test ride and it gets ANPR snapped, you're the one who will get the nastygram.
Pictures are a bit potato.
tl;dr version - you're asking too much. It's just not worth what you think it is. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

My mate is selling a mint 11 plate with less miles for the same price.
You have an overinflated opinion of your bikes worth im afraid. SVs aren't exactly unicorns are they?
A no reserve eBay auction will give you a true market price. ____________________ Triumph Daytona 675 track bike + girlfriend's Honda Hornet 600

Naaahhh
| Quote: | As title suggests I've decided to sell up as I'm after something different.
It's an SV650S 2005 model, 28,000 miles & has a full years MOT/ & 6 months Tax.
It has had some aftermarket bits fitted including;
Braided brake lines
K&N panel filter
Remus can
Tinted screen,
LED Indicators
R&G crash Bungs
R&G Tail tidy
The bike also has a Cyclone alarm and has been Alpha Dot marked - so ought to have a bit cheaper insurance.
I've just had a new rear tyre fitted, so it's all ready to go. I'll also be throwing in the restricted ECU, so it'd suit someone with a restricted licence well.
I'm looking for £2,000 ONO
Located in north London Enfield (EN3), Drop me a PM if interested in viewing. |
Food for thought,
I bought my YBR for £1600, spent tons on servicing, windscreen, hotgrips, tyres etc, and sold it for £1100.
I bought my GS500 for £500, fitted a new engine, resprayed it, new forks, new bars, loads of new parts and sold it for £400
I bought my Bandit for £650, spent well over £2000 on parts & paint, then swapped it for a dog of a motocross bike that was at best worth £400
I then spunked £2000ish into said motocross bike, sold it for £1600.
You will almost certainly loose money if you are desperate to sell...I get fed up with something, then just slash the price weekly till it sells & take a hit.
If you hold onto it, and sell in the beginning of summer you'll shift it...now as we're getting into the shit weather the bikes price will fall massively.
Don't tell people how much stuff costs, they ride bikes. They know how much this stuff costs. It's also a little odd listing stuff for sale on a forum with a phone number - most of the people who inhabit the forums will find it a lot lot easier to chat over PM/e-mail. Also listing EBC brake pads? Most bikes in the country run EBC pads
Also, take it somewhere scenic & get two good, clear photo's of it & add to your listing.
Use that listing, Price it at £2k if you want to wait for next year, or £1795 if you want to shift it ASAP & add decent pics and it'll sell. Also advertise on facebook groups, gumtree, swapz.co.uk, and eBay. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Not relevant.

Nobody cares.

So it's got one good tyre.
Sorry to be harsh, but there are far too many sellers out there who price based on what they've spent. As a buyer, that's of absolutely no interest to me. All I care about is the bike's condition, and its price relative to other similar bikes.
It's a 9 year old relatively tired example of very common budget bike. If you walked into a dealer today (end of the month) you might be able to bag a brand new example for £4750, or closer to £4K for a pre-reg or an older model year.
I wouldn't pay more than £1500 for yours as advertised. Actually, I wouldn't want it at all with that mileage when there are so many others to choose from. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Just a small note - potential buyers are put off by those sort of photos, as the blurry effect is often used by shysters trying to hide something... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

What you spent on it and what it cost you has no relevance on worth, read 10 sale ads for an sv of around the same year and spec (private ads not dealers) and compare prices/milage/condition etc then you will have an idea what yours is worth ____________________ www.soundcloud.com/bodren |

I paid 3K for mine, it had 3,300 miles on it and was immaculate though.
I will say that I wouldn't even consider a bike with no tax, I have no access to a bike trailer or van so I would need to ride it home. |

Seems to me the SV curse strikes again. My mate lost 1000 pounds selling his SV, on fresh tyres. I called him stupid, he called me stupid, and he never got a bike again. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Its only worth paying top dollar for a bike if it really is exceptional and you want to keep it for years. This has been my philosophy and if you take out the cost of running it, consumables etc you usually get back more than you paid. For anything else or 'run of the mill' you have to be canny/lucky to break even imo. Even doing a bike up costs you more than you get for it unless it happens to be one that goes silly price-wise e.g. 250 two stroke or 70s/80s Jap trail bike.
Accept the loss, sell it for whatever you can and move on.... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M
