So basicly I sold the CR.
I then bought this off my boss for a bargain price...it needs some love and attention.
2007, so the last of the Duke 2 & with just over 5k miles on the clocks.
Has been the victim of a flipped wheelie, so damage to endcans, numberplate, scuffs down one side - can be seen on the exhaust cans in the photo.
Also needs tyres, servicing and a chain & sprocket kit...however I'm rather happy as I've got it for £1000-1500 cheaper than they seem to be listed for on ebay!

Wrists fine on the road, with the CR it's so shit on the road you gotta ride it offload. The constant bouncing off road jars it or something - hoping its gonna be fine, this is hopefully going Isle of Wight in a few weeks! ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Glad to hear it! Dunno.
Haven't done a tankfull yet as I go past a fuel station on the way out so always top up....MPG isn't something I worry about tbh as my vehicles are purely toys. My commute is a flight of stairs! Reliability? Hasn't gone bang yet, all the switches and buttons seem to work alright so I guess pretty good. Although I've only done around 20-30miles, so we might find it potato's itself in a few weeks.
All my parts with the exception of the tyres & handguards have arrived, so ought to see some actual progress on this within a few days. |
The only ''supermoto'' that I know is reliable, FMX, is also terribly boring, so that's why I ask. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Brilliant bike Dropped a tooth on the front sprocket when I owned mine, really livened her up a bit. Never missed a beat in two years of ownership. |

Very nice bike Iain!
Should be easy to make that mint again too! I always though the Duke was like a very classy upmarket SM bike, and it's a big bother to the KTM Sting, which I really like too!
Can't see much else being as suitable for a commute across town/city or for putting a big smile on your face while doing it! |

Have no pictures, however today I did do;
Changed oil
Changed both oil filters
Changed air filter
Changed sparkplug
Changed coolant
Flushed and re-bled front caliper
Fresh pads in front caliper
Changed grips
Changed front tyre
Fitted handguards
Removed mirror stumps
Changed front sprocket
Changed rear sprocket.
Fitted new chain
Fitted new numberplate
Flushed & bled rear caliper
Fresh pads in rear caliper
Fitted new numberplate
Fitted Osram Nightbreakers
Thoroughly treated with ACF50
Re-painted damaged section of rear wheel
Thouroughly cleaned and polished it
....just rear tyre to fit, drop wheel back in and sling the mirrors on.
In total, £426 of parts at trade moneys. So we're getting towards the £2k mark total for the bike, but as I'll not have to fuck with it for at least a year I can't see this as a bad thing. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

That's a lot of work for 1day dude!
Seriously it would take me the best park of a week on and off to do all that, and I would have several problems along the way too!
Using my KMX as an example, I think I lost a washer from the front wheel spindle when I took out the wheels. It took me the best part of a week to find a new stainless washer to replace it with, even though the original was probably just plated steel.
When I tried to do a quick pad change on the front caliper, I spilt brake fluid on the caliper body and the paint peeled off. I had a tantrum and decided to rip off the caliper, mounting bracket etc, and strip it all down and send it off for powder coating along with the kickstart.
I think part of the reason I've not used the bike much this year is that in total it must have spent 3months on and off, off the road waiting for parts or things to be done, like powder coating, or having the seat re-covered which took 10weeks!
I've put off removing the expansion chamber as I bet having it or a new Giannelli one sent off for plating or ceramic coating will turn into another saga! |

I recommend you remove chicken strips and do many wheelies/stoppies.
The handbags are cheaper than the cans, but serve the same purpose, so are the canny purchasing choice for the modern tart . |

On saturday night diddn't fancy much of a ride so went to Maidstone Bridge with Paddy to have a look & see what was about...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KhZeveasBU&feature=youtu.be
Pretty much something for everyone. Kawasaki 2t triples, RD350's, trick R1'S allsorts. Even a collection of retro small CC dirtbikes - I especially liked this DT;

Various cars, modern & classic...even a KTM X-bow! However the little Cortina ticked all the boxes for me.

Phone was very dead, so robbing pics from the FB event site...
Anyway, we then went for a bit of an urban hoon. Lots of noise, general dicking about & acting like pedbois. Generally good fun...I'd been missing road bikes quite a lot
Then on Sunday, went for a proper ride at last on Sunday with Paddy & J.M

Performed faultlessly all day.
Headlights are awesome, fucktons of grip, engine pulled strongly up to the end of the speedo (100mph), brakes are brilliant - did many stoppies & failed at wheelies. Even did some mild offroading which it handled with ease. It diddn't do so well at drag racing however as I got utterly dicked on after I hit 3rd gear
Ragged it stupid for around 80-90 miles over the weekend...I'd say it's sorted for frenchland. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.
