Hey guys, I recently aquired a Honda XR 125, I think its an electrical issue. First off the bike has had a new battery and had been guppy charged, the bike will start first time every time there is however a curling issue but I know that issue. The problem here is last night I was on the bike all day sand it had been running fine the last four days it self charges ok but this morning the bike wouldn't even work no lights no neutral light nothing it was like the battery had been disconnected any ideas what this could be?

Thanks

Re-charge the battery off the bike and reconnect the earth cable. Put an Ammeter in series with the main power cable, and see if there is any drain.

If there is, my main suspect would be the Reg/Rec.

Does your bike have a fuse that has blown?

A blown fuse will never cause current drain - quite the opposite.

A faulty Reg/Rec can cause current to drain back through the alternator windings and flatten a good battery overnight.

An update guys, ive pit a volt meter on the battery and its reading 12.9V, I tried all the buttons the indicators still work the lights front and rear don't nor the horn and obviously the ignition. All the fuses are fine. I don't however have an ammeter is there any other way of testing drainage or the reg/rec, the last time I tesed that the resistance was around 1.1 ohms if remembered correct

12.9v is a bit on the low side - 13.4v is normal for a healthy battery.

If you only have a voltmeter to hand, try measuring the voltage when:
1. After the battery has been on charge overnight.
2. When the battery is reconnected and everything on the bike is switched off.
3. When the engine is running at about 2,000 rpm.
4. Again, 10 minutes after everything is switched off.
5. Again after the battery has been connected and everything switched off for a few hours.

Post those results, and we may have some idea what is going on.

I've done all of your checks and ive now found the problem and everything is running great now apart from the headlight, there was a few wires which were naked and shorting out so replaced all fuses and reconnected the wires and taped up properly started first time just need to figure where the light issue is now
