I read the threads about that computer game thing. They bored the shit out of me and I thought it was all sad as fuck.

So I just didn't go in it again, and continued with my life. Those that had similar thoughts, including stink wheel, should have done the same.

No need to lock it.

One of the great things about this forum is the way it can be used to bring justice to scumbag companies. Like Devines. And 1C/777.

I have no idea how google ranks shit but I do know the youtube link is on page one of google under a variety of search terms to BoS and they lead to this forum. So job was and is a good'un.

Shame it can't continue to be updated due to being arbitrarily locked. Rolling Eyes

Game? Game? GAME!? It's a fucking simulator! Talk like that will have you beheaded and a virtual squadron of online plane nerds piss all over your grave, while they discuss roll rates and whether obscure features of certain aircraft are over or under-modelled.

It looks like not only have the threads been locked, they have disappeared completely.

Over moderation is just as bad as overly whinging about moderation.

Moderation in moderation, same with whinging about moderation.

Pretty much what clutchy said.. anything that is 'bad' or not interesting, I don't give it a second, glance over and be done with it - plenty of good stuff to read on here.

Why those that take it up the bum and morally take it upon themselves to downrate is beyond me Laughing

Obviously moderators ratings are different because they have to police teh internetz and maintain making money - I guess this is a little bit on the side after all Idea Question

Thumbs Up

It's like BCF was the Wild West Frontier but all the Indians have now been forced onto reservations and lawyers are running the saloon.

I think all things eventually become anodyne and it looks like BCF won't be an exception. this time five years from now Korn will have become a total google bum-boy and the only people posting will be the children of mum's net. PC, health & safety, ban-culture thread-locking preventionism. Tedious and banal.

I guess I'm done with this popsicle stand, time to blow.

BCF is still pretty relaxed, it's not quite the free for all it once was, but as long as you stick to NSFW rules and no personal attacks, it's still not that bad. Stinkwheel gets a bit OTT sometimes with the moderation, letting his personal ideas rather than what's written in black and white dictate what he does, but apart from that, not much to complain about yet.

Its evolution at work. If a forum becomes uninteresting members simply leave and go to something that does interest them. I haven't a clue why anybody posts their personal shit about computer game arguments on a bike forum nor do I care, however I can understand said individuals getting upset when their carefully chosen words are removed by a Mod.

Perhaps there should be an area for 'Totally unrelated to anything and unlikely to be of interest to anybody bar the OP' instead of locking threads.

Anything else, let the karma system do its thing. Perhaps when a post gets a black blob it gets hidden or something, not deleted.

I agree with this. When I joined here this was the way it was. Very rarely would any mods step in. Things have changed recently with the "Must have NSFW lest ye feel the wrath of the banhammer" and one of our good members were banned a day later for that very thing.

I miss the old BCF and part of the appeal is BCF is not like any other forum which is heavily moderated.

It's funny how it's always people who joined around the same time or after I did that complain about how much more awesome/libertarian BCF was. It wasn't - the witch hunt instances were fewer and farther between, is all. From what I've seen, vendettas were more internalised, hence the diminished need to do anything much about them, other than moving them to F&FW.

How about Hetzer for mod? Laughing

Installing an 'anti-mod' such as Hetz or Paddy might actually bring some sort of balance to the force. Karma

Say it ain't so Mr Borg Crying or Very sad

I think we all know him well enough to know that he doesn't give in that easy and had he flounced he would have gone out in a blaze of glory rather than like a damp squib.

For the time being I'll take 'time to blow' as a subtle hint of some future plan involving fertiliser to take down the oppressive BCF overlords Laughing

My contextual mistake there Paddy I didn't mean someone who was anti establishment / mod I merely playfully meant the other end of the spectrum from lock/ban happy. Smile

But if you want to be a mod, aren't you the last person who should be given that power? Thinking

As I recall he has both flounced and been banned before.
