If it happens every single time, then it's prolly not wiring. Something is expanding with the heat and causing a problem. Struggling to think of anything Crying or Very sad starter motor Question

Does it try to start?

A real strange one this Crying or Very sad

I know you said a new battery, but have you put a meter on it? It might be that your rec/reg is frying it, but then I wouldn't have expected it to start the next day.

I'd start from basics again. Get a meter on each point.

A multimeter Smile Check the rate across the battery, solenoid, starter motor. Check you're getting a strong spark from your plug. Have you got a kill switch on that bike? I had one that was slightly corroded so it drained the charge on starting

Could have a shitty earth somewhere, possibly losing an earth or something on the killswitch? happened to my friends bike his killswitch was playing up and it took him ages to work it out as when he held it in a certain position the bike would start, then on or off it would die Razz

Not sure how much use that is to you though Razz

Check your earths and a general visual/continuity check if youve got a multi meter? be really handy to get one if you havent got one, can get them dirt cheap too Smile

Karma Thumbs Up

When you try and start it the second time, does the engine turn over, but not 'catch'? If so, then I'd be looking at coil breakdown - when a dying coil gets hot, it often won't generate a spark.

got 70 miles out of her today not had the usual problem. since I first postedd this thread today was the first time it worked seems to feel smoother. but its had no work done to it which I don't understand. gunna order the multi meter tomorrow or buy one from somewhere. when Ichange the wiring loom tomorrow ill check the earths, as a friend told me it could be a dodgy earth. don't get why somedays its perfect some days its not and some it won't start

This may sound incredibly stupid at first, but bear with.

I had a GZ, and the wrong bolt was in the clutch lever. When I pulled in the clutch lever, sometimes it wouldn't push the switch in fully and the bike wouldn't start for love nor money. It took a while to diagnose. Once the correct bolt was in never had the problem again.

So might be something to quickly check and check the clutch switch pin too.

Just in case it comes back... there are a few 'safety' features on this bike that could play-up - check the switches for:

1 - The clutch lever must be fully in to start the bike

2 - The kick-stand must be fully up if the bike is in gear (if you put the kickstand down before going into neutral while parking the engine cuts out)

3 - Kill switch
