The right ones are very beneficial. I had a good few parasitoid wasps move in to my pea and bean patches. The aphid population was destroyed by them and I didn't see any hints of pea moth larvae. No need for pesticides with those bad boys in town.

Some kind of woodwasp, lays eggs underneath tree bark and the grubs eat their way out.

Further searching reveal it's a Sirex Woodwasp, classed as invasive in the States due to the damage it causes to Pine trees.

Kill it dead.
