There are a few Hornet owners on here who can tell you about adding preload. It's well worth the fiddle, as is adjusting tyre pressures.

Loads of pillion advice if you search the site.

One thing. Do not frighten them.

I run the Zed with a really stiff suspension set up which comes in handy when carrying a pillion (and makes no odds to handling as I don't tend to hoon it with peeps aboard.

I always get them to mount by standing on my pegs rather than the pillion ones.

Work out a quick msg system (unless you've got intercoms), mine is limited to a tap on the knee - which means I'm going to open her up, possibly unexpectedly!

Ask them not to move, some n00b's will try to anticipate cornering and lean into it. (If you do a lot of leaning into the corners then tell them to follow your lead but be prepared for some unexpected, possibly disconcerting, wobble)

Don't drive like a twat, it'll only put them off ever climbing aboard again and allow a bit more time for braking, otherwise it's a doddle and have fun

Edit: I also tell them to punch me in the back of my ribs if they want me to ease up

Use your rear brake more than normal as there is more weight over the back wheel it is much more effective.

Great success... She loved it. Didnt find cornering that bad and no cladh of helmets. She was using the grab rail as felt more secure.

Checked the suspension and it already seemed to be on the highest setting, either that or the lowest! But it felt fine. Dont have the c spanner in my tools so will have to get one to adjust it down when going solo.

She wants a ride out to southend next sat now, weather permitting!
