Congrats! Felt exactly the same, you read about all the different ways people have failed, assume the examiner's looking for any excuse but it's actually alright ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

Congrats! Recently passed mine too so know the feeling. Also just finished the hunt for my first 'big' bike! Decided on the CBR600F, but I completely understand your point about getting the bike you've always wanted. I've done the same thing that your wife described many times with cars and it tends to work out more expensive in the long run!

I don't actually pick mine up until next Thursday - can't wait!
Nobody enjoys wasting money - I part exchanged 2 cars in the space of 4 months last year which was a killer. The only thing I would recommend to consider is that you may well end up dropping or coming off your first bike. That may hurt more (emotionally) if you are on your 'dream bike' than if you'd bought an alternative to gain some experience on.
Ultimately though, I feel that choosing a bike is relatively personal. Everyone can recommend different bikes to you but only you know what will really put a big grin on your face. Go with your heart IMO!

I have thought long and hard about alternatives mate but always come back to getting what I really want first time to enjoy.
Dropping it is probable and no doubt will hurt a bit but riding around on a second choice bike would hurt too so I will risk it.
Ask me a couple of months after getting it and I may well be singing a different tune. Although since doing my taining a naked seems a bit tempting too.
OK now I'm sounding like a lass talking about shoes. |

Probably a stupid question, but why do sport bike derived nakeds always weigh so much? And why are the engines always deretuned? ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

Get the bike you really want.
seriously, why get anything else?
Imagine getting on your dream bike for the first time... the grin on your face would be ridiculous lol.
I am riding a CBR 125, and i passed my MOD 1 yesterday.
my dream bike is a CBR600
I have the CBR as my desktop on this PC, i stare at it constantly... dreaming of the day i have one.
It may take years (hopefully NOT!)... but I WILL have one, i wont be happy till i have
Its that thought thats kept me going through the lessons and kept me saving money |
