Whats a good sealant that I can put around metal? Any silicone ones stick?
It's to go on the engine casing where the oil is stored. I have a gs500 that leaks oil from the cSing where the filter sits. It's not the o ring it's a notch of metal removed from the casing and a old repair hasn't worked. Basically want to put a sealant around the bottom to stop oil dripping out. To repair along with the other things is way more than the bike is worth

If you mean there's a chunk missing from your engine casing then you are best to look for a secondhand part and expect a stripdown, or get a professional to charge lots and lots for TIG welding and dressing a repair.
You could use any number of sealants but, as those on here who've tried before will tell you, they will fail sooner rather than later. Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear.

Probably that.

As an owner of a Royal Oilfield, I can confirm that no amount of rubber or silicone gloop can compensate for two pieces of metal not meeting up quite as nature intended. A few pennies of oil and a wipe down with a rag is a lot cheaper and more time efficient than trying to bridge that gap.

yep, Jb weld.
A wee drop of that and a careful dressing with small file
can fill scratches, digs and such.
Degrease and prep the surface first for best effect or you may just
waste your time.

A picture of the damage would help.

Depending on where and how bad, JB weld might make a decent long term repair.
