Dropped plastic syringe in fuel tank

My brother took it on himself to take some fuel out of my newly-filled bike for the petrol strimmer, using a small plastic syringe and has managed to drop the main part of the syringe in the fuel tank. I cant even see it to fish it out.

Do you think it will be ok to just leave it in there or is it likely to turn to jelly in the petrol and make its way into the fuel system and fuck up the injectors?

Any advise is welcome, cheers

Depends on the type of plastic really.....

if it was me, I'd have the tank off, drain and it and get the syringe out, but its really simple to do that on the CG

Drain it (through the tap for ease and lack of mess) into a can. Remove tank, remove syringe. Replace tank, refuel, throw bucket of water at brother. Fixed.

It will have started to chemically react unless it is some special hydrocarbon resistant plastic which is unlikely. Get it out ASAP.

What bike is it and what sort of fuel system? I would be more worried if it was FI rather than carbs.

Done, tank drained and removed, syringe removed and tank replaced. Bit of a ball-ache (have to remove the fairing side panels and the fairing cubby holes). Drained petrol has found its way mysteriously into the wifes car. Brother is out buying compensatory pizza and beers. to you all for your advice.

Oh and there is no fuel tap on this bike as it has FI, so had to syphon it the old fashioned way and managed to get a mouthful of finest shell unleaded. Mmmmm refreshing.

Sometimes cock ups like that aren't a bad thing, you learn a bit more about your bike when you are forced to strip it apart.
