But the examiner seemed to think it was ok, so I've ripped off my L plates and I'm shopping for a big boy's bike.

I'll be looking for one of the following:

ST1100 Pan European;
Honda Deauville;
BMW R1100RT;
BMW K75/K100;
Diversion 900.

Thanks all!

Went into it on a downer, just feeling a little off all day, you know when your timing just feels a second or two out of sync? Made what I thought were a couple of really silly mistakes which the examiner didn't say anything about! In the end, he gave me two minors which I didn't even pick up on during the ride.

Certainly made my day. Chuffed to bits now.

Cheers! There are bits and pieces around and to be honest, I don't mind if I have to travel a bit to pick it up, the novelty of being able to reach and maintain the national speed limit up hills is going to take a looong time to get over.

I remember when I did my car test when I was 17, I had an absolute nightmare of a trip, turning left when the examiner said right, hitting a kerb less than 100 metres out of the test centre etc.

I was absolutely certain I had failed and in spectacular style too. When the examiner told me I'd passed the first thing I said to them was "are you sure?" Laughing

I failed my first car test yet had driven almost perfectly. The second test was like yourself, stalling, grinding gears etc. I also asked "are you sure?" when he told me - he replied "if I wasn't, I wouldn't have passed you", so I made the quick decision to STFU Smile

I had a mare.
First time I pulled up at a junction after about 2 mins in I was about 2 inches from the car in front.
Took a wrong turn, thought I'd exited a roundabout wrong, kept out of a lane I could have rode in and generally I was bricking it.
Instructor said it was a good ride except for getting the turn wrong and couple of minors.
I thought I was dreaming when he said I passed.
