I know there have been several threads about it recently, but...
My cover is up for renewal at the beginning of March and I've started phoning round to get some quotes to see what the scary figure is likely to be.
Are there any companies that I should particularly avoid ringing??
I've already been through a few and bennetts particularly wanted to extract bodily fluid from me with their quote.
Although have a had a really good quote from MCE so far, which is £150 cheaper than I'm currently paying.
Just wondered if anyone had any insurance nightmares that I can try and avoid at this point?
Thanks ____________________ Colin McRae MBE 1968 - 2007 RIP

I'm with Busa...
24, No NCB, TPFT on a ZX6R 98 with an immobiliser and Datatag. Bike is garaged....
£350 with a £300 excess.
Might not seem great but I only passed my test in July 04 and the next nearest quote was £800+. I tried EVERYWHERE !!! ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |

Best I've got so far is Swinton:
31 years old
1 years NCB
2004 Fazer 600
Yamaha Immobaliser
Datatagged
£275.00 with £200 Excess
And that's fully comp!
That's £165 cheaper than I'm currently paying. However, I haven't had my renewal through from Yamaha (who I'm currently with) yet.
Bennetts (complete with lady on phone who was so disinterested I thought she'd either fall asleep or put the phone down on me) were a loss at £499!
Next nearest were Motorcycle Direct at £281.00 ____________________ Colin McRae MBE 1968 - 2007 RIP

How about www.mitch.co.uk? Or whatever they are now called. No online service I'm afraid, but they were £300 cheaper than Bennets! ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

If you want a good laugh, phone the AA. They will be at least 50% MORE expensive than the highest quote you have had if my experience is anything to go by. Bide your time until after they have plucked a number out of the air and quadrupled it then when they ask if you want to take out the policy (despite you having told them your lowest quote was around half what they are offering) laugh in their face and hang up.
I go with Carole Nash, they are usually amongst the cheaper ones (within £30-40) and provide a helpful service, documents next day, no hassle adding bikes, english speaking telephonists and that kind of thing. I left CN for a year to save £40 a while back and the hassle I had getting documents and customer support out of the new company did my nut in. You also get what is effectivley relay cover free with the CN policy which would normally cost around £60 from the AA/RAC. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Adam, when I get home I'll see if I still have my spreadsheet from last year - should be vaguely relevant as you're also a grown up.

I couldn't rate you twice but it made me laugh Bendy!
That will be useful too!
I've started making my own as I've rung round, but to see what others have been quoted would be handy. I'll know if people are taking the wosit that way.
As for Carole Nash? They've given me the fourth highest quote so far and were £135 off my lowest! But I know what you mean about getting documents and hassle too. I'll be taking that into consideration when it's renewal time. ____________________ Colin McRae MBE 1968 - 2007 RIP
