 |
|
Hi,
I want to get into motorcycling but am not sure which path to take. I took my CBT when I was 16 to ride a 50cc moped to college and at 18 passes my car test. Now at 23 I want to get a motorbike but can't decide whether to get a 125 and gain some geared bike time or just go for a full DAS course like this https://www.lets-ride.co.uk/category-a-full-motorcycle-licence
Do I need a lot of time to get used to a geared bike, or will the training between CBT on a 125 and the full A test be enough?
Thanks! ____________________ Previous - Peugeot V-Clic 50cc (Sold)

Gears don't take that long to get the hang of, it's just the coordination that can seem a bit weird at first. As you have road experience I'd say go straight for your DAS. Try to find a school people speak highly of, I'd also maybe consider just doing your CBT with them first, then DAS if you like them. ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

DAS is verboten!
Well, full A anyway, until you hit 24. You can only do A2 (up to 35kW) at the moment, and even if you do, you'll have to do the A tests anyway when you hit 24 to get on a moar powah bike.
So depending how close you are, you might want to skip one tranche of tests and just slum it on a tiddler until you hit 24. They can be fun, it's a perfectly reasonable thing to do. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Keep saving till your 24 then do your full test.
Get your experience, without L plates, on a bike with enough power to get you out of other peoples way |
