I have a 2008 Z750.
Its started to feel a bit like its slipping in and out of gear rapidly then it will settle back into the gear after a second or so.
The problem happens on acceleration normally in the lower gears at about 7-8rpm. But it will happen in 6th gear on acceleration if even a slight bump is hit. Feels and sounds a bit like it does if you hit the end of the rev range.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Something to do with the clutch I bet. Possibly worn or distorted plates, damaged cage, or friction plates contaminated by using the wrong oil!

A mate of mine used car engine oil in a motorbike and got similar results after a while. Car oil has friction modifiers and additives that bugger the clutch plates.

Oooooor, incorrectly adjusted clutch, hence the slip.

I use car oil in my bike, does it slip, no it does not.

My mechanical knowledge extends to adjusting the chain and changing the oil and filter which i did about 6-8 weeks ago, could this be the problem then? Is this an easy thing to sort?

Have you ever had a bicycle? It's the same thing. Adjust it with the cable adjuster on the lever, you'll know what to do. There should be a small free play in the lever, when it's correctly adjusted, meaning the pull mechanism in the clutch lid does not move when you move the lever a bit. Smile
