Hi! New to the forum...

I've had my 2003 Van Van for about a month now and this problem has only just started happening. (Cold?...)

It will start fine with choke on, I'll leave it for a minute, turn the handlebars to start riding and it will cut!

So I start it again and turn the handlebars hard left & right to see if that would affect it at all? Didn't seem to but it would still cut out. The only other time it has cut out was when I was slowing down to take a turn, when beforehand I had been riding without stop for about 15 mins straight.

My boyfriend recommended I get a new spark plug (7.80 Shocked). I'll change that next weekend and see how I go.

Any help/insight greatly appreciated.

Thanks Thumbs Up

Have you tried checking the clutch freeplay and cable? Might need some adjustment.

Yep. But that was because it was being fairly stiff. I sprayed some GT85 down the cable but it tightens up again within a few days.

If you ask this again in the Workshop section then you'll get more helpful responses, and also a reply from Teflon Mike.

What sort of speed is it idling at before it dies?

Ok, will do thanks Smile

It idled slowly at first, so I turned the idle speed up. It sits at 1600 rpm now. But when it cuts out, it does cut out at idle speed. Confused

Cheaper here for a plug, however I doubt thats your issue, if it is cutting out when you turn your bars I'd have a look at the routing of the choke cable see if it is being pulled.

Google for vanvan forums and join the crew.
There's so much info there to help out and some members know their vvs inside out. I know nothing but have always found the support great.
