I'll check the small print but i was with Swinton and was sure they excluded vehicles over 15 or 16 years old. Also they wouldn't recover me last time i broke down just move me to the nearest garage
Maybe their policy has changed.

£39 for self and spouse. Cars, bikes 150cc+.
You pay for the recovery and then claim it back.
No age limit.
Must be roadworthy, is all.

RAC does both personal and vehicle based cover policies. Vehicle-based is limited to vehicles no more than 10 years old at start of policy, but I don't see a limitation for personal policies.
My GF and I have a joint comprehensive euro policy - that's a personal policy.
However, they may decline to recover a vehicle if their estimation of the cost of recovery is greater than their estimation of the value of the vehicle. So this probably puts a limit on age for non-classic old bikes. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4

Also IIRC you need to check if the AA and RAC recover if you have an accident.
I believe one does and one doesn't. Although they do like to change their policies from time to time so may have changed.
I think recovery may be for 'non-fault' accidents, which if someone t-bones you they'll recover. However, rear end someone or spin into a ditch on ice they may not. ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

Check your bank account! seriously! I get free RAC membership with my bank account .
When my bike spat it`s chain off and I couldn't find the link to fix it at the roadside, I called RAC and explained I was on a bike and they sent a man with a van specifically for recovering bikes ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |
