Leather on my Alpinstars SP2s is great but the other material is ripped to bits meaning that the protection on the side is about to come out. Might try and get them fixed.

Had them 2 years, used pretty much every day, probably rained on my commute about 20 times in those two years.

Should I be expècting more or just be grateful? i got them for 25 quid when I bought my jacket as part of an offer.

I think you just answered your own question.

Two years for £25 seems reasonable enough. I ride the bike in
city traffic every day, so I would say I am quite hard on gloves.

My most durable gloves to date are Crivit branded leather
motorcycle gloves from Lidl. They are only 18 months old,
but they have seen heavy use. They are in fair condition and
still waterproof. The Velcro is getting a bit weak.

Alpinestars Apex Drystar. I have these for almost two
years. They are still waterproof, but one finger has split
open. They haven't see that much use. To be fair, I should
mention they are size L and a bit tight. All of my other
gloves are XL (10).

Richa Cold Protect Gtx. Still in perfect condition after
one year. These have only seen light use apart from a
2,000 mile trip to Scotland during the summer.

I would say the life of a good pair of gloves used for
daily riding is 1-2 years. For weekend or seasonal riders,
they could last a lot longer.

Some bikes are harder on gloves than others. My
Bandit has a fairly stiff cable-operated clutch and throttle.
I rode a Triumph Explorer recently, it has a light
hydraulic clutch and a feather light ride-by-wire throttle.

My 3-season gloves usually last me about 30k miles. Normally, the liner wears through.

3-season as in suitable for spring and autumn, and half of winter and summer. Not suitable for super hot weather, or freezing cold.

Summer gloves - perforated, unlined leather - last me about 10k miles. The stitching comes undone, and the leather itself doesn't like sweat etc. I could probably make them last longer with better leather nourishment, but I don't wear them often enough to bother much. Also, recently treated perforated leather isn't particularly pleasant to wear.

I expect my deep winter gloves to last about 30k too, and the liner to wear out, but I haven't worn them long enough yet. Muffs reduce the need for them.

Bought my first pair in March 2009. Unbranded eBay, probably £12 or so. Unlined, hard backs, double thick palms. I've worn them for pretty much every day over 6 summers. I've needed to stitch the velcro at the cuffs back on, but they're otherwise fine, and still my first choice.

Cue "you get what you pay for" chundering. Very Happy

£40 Hein Gericke all season gloves, worn them for 3 years of commuting every other week including through the winter and the velcro has come away from the cuff, but that's it.

Been absolutely sodden through loads of times, been in the washing machine loads of times and they're still very usable. Thumbs Up

What's going on with all your Alpinestars gloves?

Picked up an old second hand pair of Alpinestars Jet Road Gore-tex Gloves about 2 years ago, off ebay £35. No idea how old they were, but with the exception of the winter months Nov-March (when I switched to my heated gloves), I've worn them every day. Only just starting to show wear on palm of one, some stitching is coming away. But this started after coming off bike and hitting deck with my palm. But this wasn't the first off I've had whilst wearing these...

Always been waterproof, but not the warmest of gloves. Fingers starting to get a little numb even on these last few chilly mornings.

I'd go ahead and assume that they've been moving to cheaper sweatshops and taking their eye off the quality ball.

Currently using some a* goretex but will switch back to the warmer RST when even the power of muffs cannot keep the cold out on motorways.
Both pairs of RST's are a couple of years old (Dye turns hands red so relegated to emergency glove status).

The black pair on the left are backup emergency gloves. 4 years old.

Last pair was some Joe Rocket jobbies that lasted 10k over two years before they started to disintegrate. Got them drenched too many times and the lining ended up farked.

Now I have two pairs, Spada Enforcer winter/waterproof and a pair of Bering Zaius for everyday.

My oxford bone dry gloves came unstitched quite badly the first day I wore them.
Stitched them up and 2 years on are just starting to come unstitched again.
Try and mend them for nowt but if you cant £25 isn't a lot really.

Had expensive Alpinestars gloves before - started falling apart after a few months.

Had fairly expensive RST gloves before - started falling apart after a few months too.

Always ended up coming back to these - done nearly 50,000 miles in them over 7 years and they're still in one piece. Had to finally throw them away last week as they started making the skin flake off my fingertips Thinking assuming some sort of horrible sweat-related bio-hazard formed inside and began eating my hands. Would of kept using them otherwise.

What amazing glove can last so long you ask? Some unbranded 15 quid cheapies from a sale-basket where I did my CBT Laughing

Replaced them with some equally cheap similar ones off ebay for now - hoping they'll last as well as this pair did.

In bad weather i'm using these Spada Enforcers which are as good as new after a few years - they do start getting a little damp inside after a few hours in really severe rain, but otherwise i'd say they're waterproof; haven't found Spada boots and gloves to be as bad as their reputation personally.

My last set of gloves (prospeed) cost me £10 lasted 3 years and nearly all my offs. Still were going strong apart from a hole on one of the fingers. If I didn't have the offs I think they would have lasted a lot longer.

I still have my very first pair of winter gloves (£25rrp) that I bought when I bought my first moped 6 years ago. They have holes in the thumb and forefinger of one glove where I touched the exhaust but other than that they're still going strong.
I didn't buy summer gloves for about 3 years. The ones that I have, which were £25 are, well, 3 years old now. A hole is forming in the end of one of the forefingers. So I think a new pair will be bought for next summer.

Both winter and summer gloves get daily use in their corresponding seasons, maybe with a bit of overlap. Neither pairs have had any leather treatment or cleaning.

2 years from someone like A-Stars should be nothing to them. If I dished out on some expensive gloves like that, i'd hope they last me for at least half a decade.
