New rules are from the 1st of October.
Because we still can't do change of keeper online[*], it'll be days before the DVLA will even know that it happened.
So you're good to then at least.
[*] It's "planned", but will they want to give up that sweet, sweet penalty notice racket? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I'm picking up a new van at the end of the week and was planning on just dating the V5 back to sept. It's a bit of a risk though as the guy might have picked up a speeding ticket ect.
How would you actually buy the tax legally though? Surely I can't tax it before I've picked it up and am actually the registered keeper which means I would have to drive home untaxed unless you can do it over the phone. ____________________ Yamaha FZR400RR 3tj

The story (from a web Q&A) is that as of midnight tonigh, we can (and "should") phone or go online with the new keeper slip and buy new VED immediately, before they receive the change of keeper by snail mail.
So there will temporarily be two lots of VED on the same vehicle, mmm, money money money nom nom nom.
They totes promised not to flange it up and cancel the new keeper's VED when they later cancel and refund the old one. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Absolutely Love how theyre throwing the term "Unprecedented" around, yeah I guess it was, but it sure as hell was not unpredictable.

It's cool, you're still in a more knowledgeable position than the DVLA. ____________________ The above post is most likely nonsensical.

And free fuel.
You'd be pretty safe, most "policing" is done by ANPR now.
Don't drive anything popular with chavs or dodgy diversities, don't stack it or get stopped by a live copper.
If you do, you're looking at perverting the course of justice, and a custodial sentence is the default.
It's a gambit for real gangtas and proper pikeys, not for anyone who intends to ever have a real job or mortgage. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

After renewing the bikes tax yesterday, today I junked my brushed finished waterproof hexagon style holder.
The bike now feels so much more responsive and pops up in 4th easy now without that extra weight up front .
Not to mention improved mpg. ____________________ Chase my Witch up, Catch my Snitch up.
