This!

I just sold an exhaust for $400 delivered, and 381 appeared in my paypal account... fair enough, it was a free listing and must have been the final value fee.

Oh no... I'm still going to be invoiced ANOTHER $20.41 by ebay for this transaction...

Surely that's not right, right?
They also now charge a final value fee on postage, which in my case was 10%.

The 381 will the be 400 minus paypal fees won't it?

Ebay charge monthly invoice for listings rather than taking it directly off the money you receive from buyer.

Paypal fees are 2.4% + $0.30 which would come to $9.9 Confused

If you go to Paypal and have a look at the transaction it shows you the amount received and the fee deducted from that.

They do indeed charge final value fees on postage as well so all in that'll be $40.

Well, they don't deserve $40 for such little input. I guess I'll be cancelling the transaction after I've sent the item and got the money in my account.

Fuck you ebay. $20 would have been enough, but fuck you for being greedy.

If you cancel the transaction then the buyer will be e-mailed, for you to get a refund they either have to reply within a week to confirm that it's been cancelled or if they don't respond in that time then you get a refund.

You also need to have not marked it as dispatched in My eBay.

If they've paid with Paypal then eBay will automatically refund them so that might throw a spanner in the works.

Just had my sellers account suspended for 30 days for "avoiding ebay fees"

I put external links to high res photos in my ad.

I'd be surprised if the buyer agrees to cancel the transaction, because if he wanted a refunded or found a problem with the item he won't be able to do a thing about it.

Somebody who isn't me knows that if it's a cash on collection auction then when they come to collect the item, you can offer them a discount if they'll agree to cancel the auction.

From not paying 10% to eBay, someone who isn't me has moar monies even after giving the buyer a discount.

Everyone wins. Apart from eBay. The world's smallest violin player, just for you!

AUD. Wherever in the world the buyer is, the payment will have been $400 and that's what will have arrived in Matt's account.

The paypal fees for $400 is $9.9 so it might just be a case of something being misread.

He can't cancel the transaction without eBay giving an automatic refund to the buyer.

The trouble is that Ebay have got the market sown up and can almost dictate whatever terms, conditions and fees that they like. There is no other auction site to challenge their crown.

A bit like the Royal Mail for general post, you may not want to use them but how else do you send a physical letter from one end of the country to another.

£40 max? That must have been a long time ago! Laughing

For the last couple of years the maximum was £75, since the 2nd of September it's gone up to £250. Shocked

That doesn't apply to eBay motors listings, properties or classifieds.

I've had them cancel a couple of bike sale auctions, [after the auction has ended and I've been in touch with the buyers, who have continued with the purchase] for stupid things like keyword spamming so saved me a good few quid Middle Finger

They charge far too much to sell items, especially when they're taking a % of your money, it's ridiculous.

I don't sell anything through eBay.
