Hi all,

I came off of my bike today (3rd time in 3 months riding). Stupid roundabouts Evil or Very Mad . Anyway, on to the problem in hand... I repaired the motorbike at my granddads house (Just up the hill from me) and I rolled it home without the engine running. As I was rolling down the hill, I noticed a clicking noise coming from the front wheel.

Any ideas on what this noise is linked to?

Cheers,

Timothy

Hi , I would guess the most obvious are anything in the wheel Embarassed Have you damaged the mudguard at all , have you check the wheel itself is running true. The other things to check depending on which side you fell are the brake disc and caliper , or the speedo unit.

Is the wheel moving freely? Is the steering firm in the neck?

I heard some clicking on my ZXR, found out the pads were moving in the left calliper. The plate that was supposed to hold them did not do its work. Thumbs Down

Hi,

My bike doesn't have a disc or calliper Embarassed The mudguard seems to be fine, and I believe the wheel is still running true. I have yet to check the speedo drive unit though.

Cheers,
Timothy

The steering is firm in the neck. The bike doesn't have a calliper.

Cheers,
Timothy

Alright, take the front wheel off then, and check the inside of the drum brake. Thumbs Up

Timothy

It sure could be, but you've said it was the front end, not the engine. Smile

When did you hear the clicking? Riding it or at neutral on the drive way?

It could be the chain indeed.

However, the front drum setup of CG's, have a fair bit of free play in the toque locking mechanism slot etc. That could be banging about.

Mate once had a small piece of rock in the headlight cover of his CB500, after going down. It was clicking/ticking in there like it was the chain. We were both surprised a small piece of rock could get in there, yet nothing around the head light was damaged, some scratches on the side but the glass and the headlight cover were perfectly fine.

Hi all,

Thank you all for the suggestions. I have lubricated the chain, and I will be inspecting the other possible areas in due course. Regarding the headlight, it popped out and there is no gravel or stones in there.

Cheers,
Timothy

Take spindle out and roll it along a flat surface like coffee table etc. Could be this?

Hi,
I will have a closer look at the front wheel tomorrow, as I will be changing the back tyre tomorrow as well.

Cheers,
Timothy
