Thinking of a Kawasaki Z1000SX tourer abs?

Looking for something a bit sportier, that has a bit of protection for long weekends and that goes well with or without panniers.
https://www.motorcycledaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/093013middle2.jpg

I like the look of the GSXR1000 but have weak discs in my lower back (permanently damaged) so think I may be pushing my luck. Am I?
https://www.motorcyclenews.com/upload/306188/images/suzuki-1.jpg

People have suggested the new VFR so that's on the list
https://www.doble.co.uk/Assets/new-motorcycles/sport-tourer/VFR800F-14/vfr800-2014-white.png

And this has also caught my eye but I'd need to do a Sunday paper round I'm guessing. They've not released a price yet. BMW R1200RS.

Plenty of time as I'm not buying until March and have Motorcycle Live to window shop but it's fun to hear your opinions! What do you think?

Thanks in advance! Wink

S1000rr

K5/K6 GSXR 750 / 1000

& lots of change.

I wouldn't want either of these bikes for 2-5 years.

I have a friend who has the SX, without the panniers you are left with a massive bulging metal scaffold frame either side that the panniers bolt on too.

Of course this does come apart too but not without tools and I'd imagine adding a significant amount of time to taking off and adding the panniers. Fine if you use them once a year...

If I had time for longer tours then right on with these. But a young family limits my days away a bit.

A 1960's bullet 500 and throw a 612 conversion kit at it.

With the other six grand I'd buy a low mileage, third gen VFR750 and fit modern brakes and suspension.

With the remaining three grand I'd get something like a DR350 because I've always fancied trying some trialling.

With the remaining thousand I'd get an autocycle.

Or, if I could keep the bikes I already have. A BSA A65 and send it to SRM for one of everything.

My dad just sold a lovely condition late 50s autocycle for £550. You'd have plenty of cash spare from your grand to rebuild the engine every year Smile

If I had 10k to spend on a single bike, then I`ve got to much money or the rest of the family are subsidising me Smile .
However if I had 2k to spend on a bike , I`d be thinking WAHOO!!!!

A Kawasaki Z1000 to slow? really??

BMW RR it is then!

A new(er) TDM don the same upgrades I have already done to mine. With the Remaining cash it would be a 7dmk2 and some L Glass.

I've got the 2014 Z1000SX ABS Tourer, and I think it's a fantastic all rounder. I really cannot find fault with it.
Panniers are on and off in seconds. Without, it just looks all sports bike, no framework whatsoever. Simple but brilliant.
Get one Thumbs Up
