I've always used a normal backpack with a dry-pack or two inside - Kayak/camping ones are good and easy to come by at plenty of local sports and outdoor shops. I'd trust most to be dunked in a river let alone in the rain.
I've used a couple of cheap ones off ebay too that have been fine, although if you're going to use it for a laptop it might be worth paying a little more for one of the more reviewed branded ones to play it safe.
Some examples |

LOMO's are great. I have a 60L one which is way too big. 40L would probably fit a laptop bag inside. ____________________ Licence: Nov 2012, Bikes: Suzuki GN125, Moto Guzzi Strada 750, Triumph Sprint ST 955i x 2

Top tip.
If you happen to be carrying a 4 litre container of paraffin in your backpack, make sure the lid's on properly or your backpack will disintegrate. ____________________ There ain't no devil, there's just god when he's drunk.

I'd like to tell you a story.
I used to wear a rucksack on my back when I went out on the bike. When I had my serious bike accident, I had a rucksack full of shopping on my back. The two bottles in the bag broke, but I was lucky enough to land on my side. Hence avoiding being stabbed by the glass.
Nowadays I carry anything that needs to be carried either in the tank bag or by panniers.
It's your choice what you do, how you carry your stuff...but it can't hurt knowing what has happened to others. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

This ^^^^^
Had one for a couple of months, it's been used daily and it's fantastic!
I was a bit concerned that it'd be too cheap, but no, it's well constructed and keeps everything nice and waterproof.
Overall they're extremely good value for money. ____________________ Yamaha MT-09

another White LOMO user here. haven't been able to fault it at all.
well worth the money. i once used it to carry a full set of brake discs, pads, filters and a gallon of oil for my car service. never again
but it held up to the abuse well, and the straps still stayed attached ____________________ Past - 1988 honda revere 600, 1996 kawasaki gpz500s, 1999 Yamaha R6
