Hi all, just a quick one. Does anyone have any recommendations of rucksacks that are good on a motorcycle. Need to keep my laptop and camera gear dry through the winter months.

Ta.

I've always used a normal backpack with a dry-pack or two inside - Kayak/camping ones are good and easy to come by at plenty of local sports and outdoor shops. I'd trust most to be dunked in a river let alone in the rain.

I've used a couple of cheap ones off ebay too that have been fine, although if you're going to use it for a laptop it might be worth paying a little more for one of the more reviewed branded ones to play it safe.

Some examples

I use one of these.

Its 100% waterproof but has no padding so you'd need to put your laptop in a soft case.

Not very sexy, but great value and its actually waterproof, and all for £25!

I've also got the 30L dry bag.

the pricey was is in a dry sack, then in your rucksack

LOMO's are great. I have a 60L one which is way too big. 40L would probably fit a laptop bag inside.

Top tip.

If you happen to be carrying a 4 litre container of paraffin in your backpack, make sure the lid's on properly or your backpack will disintegrate. Sad

Overboard - great bags and 100% waterproof.

Some might say they're just rebranded Lomo's, but the quality is miles better in the Overboard imo.

Another vote for overboard. Used for over a year, 100% waterproof.

I'd like to tell you a story.
I used to wear a rucksack on my back when I went out on the bike. When I had my serious bike accident, I had a rucksack full of shopping on my back. The two bottles in the bag broke, but I was lucky enough to land on my side. Hence avoiding being stabbed by the glass.

Nowadays I carry anything that needs to be carried either in the tank bag or by panniers.

It's your choice what you do, how you carry your stuff...but it can't hurt knowing what has happened to others. Thumbs Up Karma

Lomo are good. There are cheaper eBay options if you're Skint. Just search for dry bags under the kayaking section. Look for the thicker rubberised material ones rather than the cheaper thinner nylon ones.

If you're trying to keep expensive camera gear dry, I'd pay a bit more for lomo or ortleib

One of these for me.
It aint fashionable, but keeps every drop of rain out & protects the laptop. Holds shitloads & expandable. CE certified back protector as well.

This ^^^^^

Had one for a couple of months, it's been used daily and it's fantastic!

I was a bit concerned that it'd be too cheap, but no, it's well constructed and keeps everything nice and waterproof.

Overall they're extremely good value for money.

Bought a 40L orange Lomo today. Needed something to carry the laptop and all my other work related crap in and it looks like it'll do the job.

another White LOMO user here. haven't been able to fault it at all.

well worth the money. i once used it to carry a full set of brake discs, pads, filters and a gallon of oil for my car service. never again Shocked

but it held up to the abuse well, and the straps still stayed attached Thumbs Up

Depends on what you want to carry, for just my lunch and uniform for work my £20 oxford motorcycle rucksack is fine, zips still work and no rips after 2 years of constant use
