BMW 1 Series M Sport hatchback. Basically wants to be a Golf GTI in Beamer clothes. Still kinda cool though, but rather have a Scirocco GTI or better still a Scirocco R-Line...

Not sure why you'd rather have a Golf or Scirocco (also a Golf, just wearing it's posh frock), which are FWD, rather than a RWD hatchback but different strokes I guess.

Seeing Chrysler 300 owners driving around wishing they had Bentleys always gives me a little chuckle.

You can get a Bentley bodykit. I've seen em!

Also, Mk. II MR2 had a bodykit that made it look exactly like a Ferrari. Seen a shitload of these and you can only tell by the noise.

When I was a kid a fella round our way was fitting some sort of bodykit to a TR7 to make it look like an F40. I never saw it finished, but I assume it didn't, very much.

The BMW has 315hp, rear wheel drive, a 6 pot engine, and a steering that's quicker than an Evo...

The Golf is a shopping car with a bit more power.

I quite like them cars actually. So what if it's a poor man's Bentley. I wouldn't mind having one but wouldn't dress it up like a Bentley.

Just think its sad seeing people trying to project a false image of wealth.
Bit like buying knock off expensive trainers at a dodgy market.

Is it any worse than rich people trying to project a true sense of wealth?

I think the kit/replica sports cars are a good example of this - is it really worse to buy a 406 coupe based Ferrari for relatively little and drive it around slowly than doing the exact same thing with a very expensive 'real' Ferrari?

And if you wanted an actually fast car to drive fast, there's probably better ways to do it.

I think it is. Why try to be something you're not? If you are rich, sure drive an expensive car, not that you should feel the need to show everyone how much money you've got, but just because you like Ferraris or whatever.

If you're not rich, why try to kid on that you've got money? Anyone who really knows you knows that you haven't got money, and people who don't know you shouldn't matter.

I've seen people driving fake BMW M3/M5s, almost look the part, but you can spot the differences and then you just see it's some poser in a 2.5, which then seems a bit pathetic really.
