So the lever sort of pulses?
If so that's symptoms of a warped disc however you shouldn't feel that unless the brake is actually applied slightly. That said if the caliper was sticking on a bit that could possibly have caused the warping in the first place.
Rear caliper off, strip, clean, inspect pad pins & such for wear, give the disc a going over with a bit of sandpaper (just to get the shine off) re-assemble & see what's what. Few hours work if that & may remedy the issue. If not, would be swapping brake disc & pads out.

Have a post up in the SE section, explain what you've explained here & link this thread. You may find someone willing to have a look at it for a few beers or something?
Chatham seems a long way to ride on a 125 with iffy brakes in poor weather or I'd offer my services.  ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.
