Cylinder Identifiction Sensor/Camshaft Sensor

Hi all, new to the site

Having issues with my Yamaha R1 2002. It won't start due to error code 11 - No normal signals are received from the cylinder identification sensor

Found this post from 2008 - https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=159158 - and have looked all around the fuses with no issues.

I currently have the bike stripped down and have removed and inspected the sensor but nothing looks worn or torn (as I have also read that the radiator fan can nip these wires causing a open circuit/short)

Does anyone have any other ideas bar chucking it in the bike shop for a nasty bill once fixed!

If you have the pickup off the engine, this is my rough and ready test method. Measure with an ohmmeter the resistance between the two leads. You should see somewhere between 3-600 Ohms. If that seems good:-
Find a magnet. Pull a plug lead, get a known working spare plug and plug into the lead, earth it to engine.
Switch ignition on, pass magnet over the pickup, (the edge facing the timing rotor). Generally, you will get a spark.
This ONLY proves that the pickup, wiring and ECU are working. If no spark, you are back to tracing wires to and from the ECU. Always check with a known good fully charged battery of course.

All up and running again!!
Don't actually know what the issue was (perhaps a loose connection somewhere) as I reconnected everything back up after a quick wipe down and started it up first time....puzzled!
