I spent some time yesterday stuck on a train looking at very cheap Chinese/HK eGay tat that "could" be quite cool.

12v peltier element (£1.55):
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wholesale-TEC1-12706-Thermoelectric-Cooler-Peltier-12V-60W-92Wmax-C-/201056927640?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item2ecfed3f98

Green LED voltmeter (£1.15):
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390938051902?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&var=660301093208&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

A torch, £2:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HN1R8CW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Tempted by a brewing thermometer (could be terrible) £3.45;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390948145710?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&var=660308285945&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Some of it looks ok. Voltmeter was discussed in a workshop thread. My brother has the torch and it's not as shite as it should be, certainly as bright as my LED lenser. I already have a few of the peltier elements, need another.

Found any other "not as shite as it should be" stuff?

The voltmeter is fine, has a pot on the back so you can make it fairly accurate.

The peltier is absolute dogshit.

I have like 15 pairs of these:

By far the best I have found for the money (I have tried loads of cheap ones).

its brighter than the sun and is water proof, mine ended up in the 3 foot of water and still functions fine - it even stayed on while in the water, good job too other wise I would not have been able to fine it. however now I have written this, I am not sure this come under tat

Jeez, the amount of impulse bought chinbay tat I've bought
is embarrasing.
I'm currently sorting out all my gadgets and stuff and if anything sticks out as particularly good or startlingly bad, I'll let you know

The worst that comes to mind is one of these 12v 'heaters'
I figured as the van take a while to warm up, it would be useful
to get the screen clear on winter mornings
Utter utter shite.

I've got a similar heater as the rear de-mister in my Landrover, actually does that job quite well. Must say a damp roll-up did better job of heating the cab up though.

Blanked out brand name, ships from China, marked 'Made in USA'. Well, it is cheap...

I'm not disputing the quality of the item, of course.

As far as I can tell they are these:

https://www.mallinson-electrical.com/tools/shear-cutters-plato-model-170-snips.html

They are actually flush cut, the handles dont bend and the cutting edge doesn't dent anywhere near as easily as all the others I tested.

T6 is where it's at for a good led flashlight, I have one of these and it is the best torch I have ever had, it really is so bright. Thumbs Up

Do you run the t6 with one or two batteries? Not been impressed with them with a single lithium, but will depend on driver.
My daily push bike lighting involves a 12x t6 torch and a 7x t6 headtorch. Reasonable illumination!

U2 is the new version of the t6.

Nice input voltage range on that one. I'd be tempted to hook one up to a bicycle dynamo via a bridge rectifier and see how it fares as an pushbike charger.

Most (but not all, of course) car USB chargers will go up to 24v (used plenty in my lorry), not sure if they'll go down to 6v.

3A is quite nice, however. Been thinking about hard mounting some in the truck, as it goes (though I do have the choice of 12, 24 or 240AC, so not short on options.)
