Friend Scared To Death - Psycho Living In The House

Looking for some advice for my friend.

She lives in a city up North and is a student, her boyfriend isnt a student so they both live in a house share with random other people, not a student house share. They're both early 20's

One of the other residents is a 45 year old drunk, who one night, thought it would be a great idea to get pissed, come back at half 1 in the morning and start having a go at them (my friend and her boyfriend) for not cleaning the kitchen.

This led to an argument, to him cutting his own hand with a knife, slapping them both across the face and claiming they assaulted him.

She called the police and they made him leave the house for the night, but she didn't press charges because she didn't know what would happen.

Another incident was one morning, he barged into their room, thinking the boyfriend had gone to work to start an argument with my friend. Luckily the boyfriend hadn't gone to work yet an another argument ensued.. Something about leaving keys in the bathroom (bull5hit argument?)

They have tried to contact the landlord multiple times, to no avail. Apparently the guy is supposed to be being moved into another house, but there are problems with that so hes actually still living there..

There no friends locally which she can go to, and her family is a few hundred miles away. Its all affecting her university work too.. taking a plummet.

Looking for advice on what she should do...

Well if he's a nutter then you should be careful taking him on, you don't know what he might do, if he's gone apeshit and cut himself with a knife then the only sensible solution I can see is leaving quietly and on OK terms with him, then it won't be them he kills when something in his head snaps.

Your title reads "scared to death", if she is indeed very scared then leaving is obvious whether it puts her in a little extra debt or not. Add it to the student CC.

There are no other similarly priced rooms in shared houses nearby?

You say they can't get hold of the landlord but how have they been paying their rent each month if they can't get in touch with the landlord?

Why isn't the landlord doing anything, using words like "in fear of life" ought to prick their ears up. Can it not be escalated above the land lords head?

Also if money's tight, how can they afford to live there? There must be several other places similarly priced nearby.

Cant get hold of the landlord.....easiest and quickest way to get a response is stop paying the rent and put it aside, he will soon be in contact then you can raise the issue and give him the money owed.

Answer is simple. They need to move out...of the North...permanently.

Unless you want to make friends with a kestrel or buy a pork pie, there's no need to ever go north of Watford.
