Hi All,
winter time again and always I have had the issue of my hands freezing close to cracking off as I am doing 1 hour journey in morning and late evening every day when the weather is usually very cold.
My options as I see it are :
1.heated grip. don't want to do it as it will mess with the manufacture grip. As I understand I have to tear them and replace them with some cheap chinese ones .
2.glove guard . ugly so moved on .
3. proper gloves. I have spent £30 on my gloves . they are not brilliant but ok .
so looking at above I am inclined toward point 3 so in your view are there any gloves out there that is very good and doesn't cost silly amount for this winter ?
Especially my finger tips heart the most ____________________ SV650 Red

Heated gloves
If you go the inner glove route then beware that they will add bulk and reduce feel but they heat the parts the grips simply can't (back of the hand/fingers).
I don't have problems with my body getting cold, I wear some Aldi base layers which are Crane brand merino wool, with a couple of light T-shirts and a medium sweater and haven't put the thermal liner in my jacket yet as I haven't felt cold yet. |

For gloves I swear by the 2 finger (or is it three) lobster style.
I found you can still get the Hein Gericke Pathan type from the HG German website. Ballpark £47 atm when converted from Euros including postage.
but other makes available. ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

I bought the following :
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warmawear-Heated-Motorcycle-Glove-Liners-Motorbike-Battery-Inner-Gloves-Thermal-/350977640506?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Gloves&var=&hash=item51b7e5c83a
it is ok but only barely keeps my hand warm , it does prevent it from freezing but barely warm .
it takes 6 aa batteries every 2 hours or so , thus quite expensive and not logical to continue.
I am going to return it .
my next options are heated grip or muff.
muff is a 100% no as I hate the look of it even if I freeze.
heated grip maybe .
My questions is , do you have to rip the current grips or would they slide out so in future you can place them back in if need be ?
I remember on some forum it was saying you have to cut it open.
now re brands, I am happy to get something good but not foolishly expensive . is oxford anygood for £70 ?
the main question is does it keep you warm? ____________________ SV650 Red

- those look interesting.
Was wondering about wiring up some heated grips on my (push)bike, but that could be even better.
Can't really justify it.
Anyway, for the OP; a) your bike looks shit anyway.
B) once you've got muffs, symtek heated grips. But any heated grips are going to be less than ideal without muffs. And we've had a very mild time of it so far too. |
