 |

Wotcha,
Santa is being very nice to me this year and getting me some lovely new Alpinestars due to my current booties having lots of wear on the bits that touch the ground.
https://i823.photobucket.com/albums/zz157/mikeallen3lly3900/IMAG0854_zpse5gqkuxu.jpg
My question to the collective is this, is it worth taking my old AS's to the cobblers to get them re-soled and keep them as a spare, or just admit defeat and introduce them to the wheeliebin?
I know that the construction of bike boots is a little more substantial than your average shoe for safety reasons, hence my question.
Cheers

Are they comfy and are you attached to them? If so, may be worth it. If not, your getting a new pair
Suppose it depends of the cost of re-soling too! (And if it lasts!) ____________________ A2 Passed 18/6/10 |

Not quite the same, but I get what you are implying.
Might pop to the cobblers to get an idea of price, if we are talking about £20 to do then I'll prob's get them done, much more and I think it'd be a bit of a false economy for a spare pair, even if they are so comfortable that I can wear them all day and have no foot ache
Cheers guys

Ohhh btw, it depends on how you look at it, but if it's £5, to me it would be false economy.
The oem sole is moulded and incorporated into the boot, a re-sole, or stick on sole (one cuts the old one away and replaces it, the latter just scours the original sole down to accommodate a "stick on" sole), won't adhere properly, and you will end up catching the corner on pegs, kerbs, front door step, stairs, etc. could even be a nasty fall in your future....if....the 'cobbler' has no shame and tries anyway. ____________________ If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough. |

that style of molded sole, i wouldnt bother,
but im on my second sole on my sidi couriers,
and hopefully the leather is still in good enough condition for a 3rd resole
at some point,
i like buying gear that can be repaired, rather than replaced ____________________ the humans are dead

Cheers for the input guys.
Think I'll just chuck them in the cupboard as they are and drag them out if the new ones get too wet to dry out for the next day.
As for dragging feet, I used to do this on the CBF, but seem to have stopped with the V-Strom, must be more confident in my balance abilities on this one
Don't think they'd work for a pillion pair really, I don't know that many people with a size 50 (eu) foot, let alone anyone who rides/pillions
Again, thanks
