Anyone heard of this? If so, how effective is it?
I have a slow puncture on a new(ish) front tyre and don't fancy replacing it just yet. ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

I think Col aka McJamweasel used it and regretted it as it ended up on the whole backend of his bike.
Also in my opinion it is better just getting a puncture plugged professionally, or just get breakdown cover with Puncture repair included. |

Just had a look on t'interweb, it says it's good for 2 years and up to 150mph. I'm only riding a restricted ER5 for work, so it's only really to keep my ass covered, I seem to pick up a lot of punctures on London's sh1tty roads. ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

I've used it before with no problems, just remember though, it's a prevantitive NOT a cure... I used it in case I got a puncture then it might not deflate/not notice.. but also used it to seal a current small slow puncture and never actually replaced the tyre so it does seem to do it's job fine. ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |

I had puncture seal stuff in my rear tyre on my NSR as I had a slow puncture and had had to pump it up every morning before work - as you can imagine that was getting rather tiresome ( ). After I had the gunge put in, it kept perfect pressure.
For £15 or however much it is, I found it well worth the money. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

Would not recommend the stuff you buy from the supermarket (Holts?). Maybe a get you home for a car but wouldn't try it in a bike tyre (different forces).
There appear to be 2 for bikes that appear to do the same job. Ultraseal and Puncture Seal (do a google). Would recommend using this sort of stuff for off-road bikes and tourers. On road sports bikes you may be hiding a puncture and hence a flaw that could cause problems (but then could save you from being stranded).
What did they use in the bikes in 'The Long Way Round'? ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

Heya,
cheers for the comments.
I'm only riding an ER5, rarely go about 70mph as I ride with the rush hour traffic so dont really get a chance.
Perhaps I should invest in some solid rubber tyres! ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

Hi
Personally not keen on the idea, and many tyre fitters hate the stuff and will charge you extra for changing a tyre after you have used it.
The problem Col had seemed to be that the hole was fairly large. The stuff sealed it up happily and it worked fine at low speed, but when he went at a decent pace it did not hold and leaked pink goo all over the place.
The idea of not knowing about a puncture until you are going quickly enough to make the results nasty really does not appeal.
All the best

OK, wellI think I'm going to stick with the 'slime' variety first. I'll try it out in the front wheel first of all, if I dont appear to have any grief, then the back wheel will get a dose too.
If it doesn't work, then well I'm screwed and will have to suffer a slow puncture for a few months! ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |
