SS100 I would like a real SS100 but the 1/4 Million £ price tag is prohibitive. This may not appeal to the sports bike power rangers but at £38K and delivering 140 BHP at only 180 Kg it will be able to hold its own on the road. I want.

It's far from a practical everyday motorcycle, but that Full Black version I could Jizz over quite easily!

I'm a bit surprised that they have had a brand new bespoke engine designed for it, as I'm sure they could have brought in a suitable motor and made it look good afterwards. Maybe they expect the cost of this to be recouped in sales which I hope is the case.

I never thought I'd say this about some stupidly expensive, limited edition, retro designed bike, but...

I really do like that! Shocked Laughing

At 88 degrees the engine looks a bit too V, I think JAP used a 79 degree motor. It may not be practical for day in and out commuting but it has not been built for that (I did use a 1930 and a 39 bike as my only transport for 8 years though so it can be done). It is a glorious tribute to the original SS100 and it has given me a huge semi.

It won't appeal to many 'power rangers' because you're paying a hell of a lot of money for a bike with outdated specs and VERY poor tyre choice.

It's all about the tart, not "holding it's own", which would be purely down to the skill of the rider being a decent chunk higher than that of a sports bike it was "holding it's own" against Wink.

Just make sure you remember the accessories to complement, too!

I came. Shocked

Waxing lyrical a bit here but after the uninspired hash being brought out by all the other reborn vintage and boutique brands (Horex, Lotus, maybe Hesketh.... Mad ), this bike looks like a complete package, one whose every little detail has been fussed over by a discerning eye.

It looks like an old steam locomotive, lots of mechanical bits on display but with classy farkles and brightwork spread about in all the right places.

Low, long and narrow and elegant too, unlike the ever-widening land barges that bikes seem to be becoming today Laughing

Sadly, Horex have gone under, the Hesketh production run has finished and the Lotus is gopping.

I agree with the comments above, it's nice but the V looks too wide and the wheel choice is unfortunate. Some 17's would have allowed fitment of some proper rubber, which would be preferable if you're actually intending to use all 140bhp.

The clues are "Limited Edition" and £50k - I doubt if any of these will ever actually be ridden Sad

It'll take PR3's, a tyre plenty capable of handling 140bhp on the road.

Do you mean a limited selection, or that the size is inherently wrong?

I assume that owners will be able to specify whatever actual tyres they want (from the selection available at that rim size).

Sort of want, although it's not quite pretty enough as an objet d'art, and too expensive to ride.

Limited selection.
Also, not sure how a 160 width 18" handles 100hp, but typically 100hp will get a 180 width 17" and 160 seems to make sense on a 72hp minitwin, say.
(Of course, for the likely riding this will receive, I'm sure it'll be ablsolutely fine, even with whatever horrbile tyres they're probably offering with it.)

Quite nice to look at apart from the exhaust system that just doesn't look quite appeasing.

My TDM has 90hp and 160 tyres, it also has far more torque than any 600 sports. I've never had any problems with grip.

Wink

Torque is a bit irrelevant as it's going to be higher geared, so will have less getting through to the back wheel.

The internet suggests 80hp is more likely, too.

I really like the way you can rotate the picture Very Happy

Not sure about all these new old bikes, it seems like every few months someone has dug up an old bike name/make and started making them again.
MV Agusta springs to mind, very nice bikes but there not MV's.
The new Norton on the cover of this weeks MCN.
Now this, we should have a bet on the next marque to appear, very surprised we've not had a new Vincent.
