If the Z3 is an improvment on the Z2, go for it!
I've had the Z2 for a few months now and it's epic! ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

One positive of the Z2 is that the headphone jack is uncovered, meaning you don't have to mess about with a flap every time you use it .
But then I look at the waterproofing as a safety net, rather than a feature to try out every time I've got a pint glass in front of me .
Overall, really like my Z2. Z3 is only a very slight improvement, so also worth considering the Z2 if you can get a much better deal. |

It's been the same on various Sony phones I've had before. The answer is a Bluetooth headset but the battery life is a bit crap on the ones which don't have to be plugged into either a battery pack or the phone itself for power to recharge.
Phones & pint glasses only work then neither of them are mine.
The touchscreen on the Z1 doesn't work when under water which is a bit limiting.

Talking of the headphone socket on the Xperia Z's. I notice once mine was wet, the phone didn't recognise the headphones and still played out of the integral speakers.
Once try, all was fine. Also found, like Ste, you get lint (not Lindt mmmm) and fluff stuck in there... A jewelers screwdriver or cocktail stick is pretty useful and clear out any debris which might be hindering the insertion of jacks. ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

I've tried the cockstick and screwdrivers fixing methods. The headphone socket behaved itself for a short time after that when I'd also used compressed air for extra lint removal. When it stopped working again the next repair was holding it under the tap in the kitchen so that the water went straight into the headphone socket. After that it behaved itself for a few weeks.
And then it stopped working again so I decided against any more DIY repair attempts. |
