Ended up buying one the first time you posted about these, don't need another! I had big plans for it but at the moment all it's doing is hosting a website hardly anyone goes to; still at least it's doing something!

I've got to say the build qualility was better than expected, it doesn't make much noise at all, and has been very stable, I am a fan.

No point, just needs some more RAM, hard drives and a USB memory stick

Can you put some benchmarks up? Ideally for some cross platform tool. I have a server with an i5-4670K with a marginal overclock. Occasionally it needs a bit horsepower, but for the most part it sits idle.

It's a media server (PLEX), but this server also does download, unpacking and tidying up automatically. Some of which can be intensive. I rarely transcode, as most of the files I have, are in the correct format I need or are converted on the way in.

I was also looking at the ML110-G7 with the E3-1220 too.

Might have a punt, I've got 2x4GB ECC ram laying around. Plenty of drives, the add-on hardware raid card is cheap too.

Can only see a cashback for £165, still cheap but would like to save the extra £15 Very Happy

I MIGHT be able to find some iLo advanced licences too Very Happy

Embarassed Sorry, missed it.

Just ordered, SHOULD be here tomorrow. Last time I paid their extra delivery for speediness, it didn't work so I don't usually use them.

Just realised I've got an 1155 i5 on my desk, it MAY take that as an upgrade, as apparently some work. Going to find a P410 for proper RAID with battery backed cache.

Cheers

Yeah, they wanted £2 extra, so I thought what the hell. I'll be running Windoze Server most likely, it suits the apps I run. I can also use Hyper-V for dicking about.

Remote power on/off will be awesome as this will live in my loft. Current system is one of those remote power on/off plugs, which isn't ideal.

Decent.

TBH, for the amount of power the unit uses there isnt any point in turning it off.

At most it might be worth setting a spin down for the drives.

Use WOL for power up if needed / if you retardedly shut it down.

My G7 hasnt been powered down since i set it up.

My primary server is always left on and I don't spin down drives as my Raid controller has 'failed' them before now. However, I now have 5x4TB WD NAS drives in there. Will probably ultimately put 4x4TB drives in this. But I've got some 2TB drives kicking about which will fill it! Very Happy
