I haz headache.

Last question of the 1st of 2 labs this year.. and we haven't even covered it in class. No change there then. /Rant

If anyone has a single clue to this then I will be grateful, at the moment I haven't a bloody clue. Will research it like mad, the problem I find is that every website has a different method.. Evil or Very Mad

Cheers. Thumbs Up

Rolling Eyes If you can't even figure this one out for yourself, there's no point me explaining it to you. It's obviously just way beyond you.

I did lots of velocity/acceleration diagrams during my degree. I'll dig out my notes.

i got a first for mechanics/maths.

the only bit i can remember is that the mechanics tutor was south african and spent most of the time telling us how bad black people were.

Obviously your maths teacher is good at maths, but that doesn't mean he's allowed to be utterly rubbish at English instead.

for part A i THINK...

find angular velocity at point B (500*(2pi/60)), which is a vector tangential to the rotation path. You can then use trig to find the velocity at E with the X component of the velocity vector (VcosTheta) where theta is the angle between the vector and the X axis at point B.

It's 3am for me... so it's probably wrong.

Thanks for all the input,

I am bumping this thread in hope that some kind of maths god sees a man down & wants to help.

Kind of like those starving adverts you see.

I've since put this on 4 different maths and physics forums and not had a single reply that makes sense / and/or confident they know what to do.

I've read the angular velocity section of my book about 12 times and written it out. This question is different to all examples though, and we don't have anything from class to go on. Rolling Eyes

I can't find anything similar online either..

Pretty please.. Thinking

Funny replies also accepted. The world's smallest violin player, just for you! Laughing

Cheers Thumbs Up

the real life answer is replace your wanky mechanism thing with a linear actuator and spend the rest of the day chilling out.

definitely a device designed by a public sector worker.
