I've been using clippers for ever, well, 20+ years anyway
Mine have always been Wahl, and I've only ever bought 2 sets!
The first ones lasted for 24 years! the latest ones I've had for a year, give or take a month or 2.
I have very thick hair and no problems with my clippers.
I have bought cheaper clippers twice, both times they've proved to be useless on my head, tugging, jamming, generally crap.
Wahl Super Taper are the ones I've got atm. Not the most expensive, sort of mid range, but powerful enough to get through my mop. |

They're rubbish and more difficult than just using a normal set of clippers. Mine were bought for me from Argos and they were very good when I returned them though. to Argos. |

Do you like having your hair torn out? If not, don't buy one.
I had one and it just tore and chewed at my hair while it screwed up the ends of it. I had to cut it back extra short with my conventional clippers to remove the damaged parts (and it was a grade 4 to start with). I felt lucky to have got away without it being physically stuck to my head.
Looking at the amazon reviews, they are almost all either 4 star or one star. Looks like a little over 40% of the people who left a review thought they were utter crap. Not a good number. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Have cheapish Remington rechargeable clippers. When they work they are good but need a new set. Problems:
Quite often the motor speeds up and can see the blade moving, but wont cut shit. I assume hair gets trapped under blade. Excessive time cleaning and lubing blade eventually fixes it. Almost abandoned cut half way through a couple of times
Battery was way underpowered (not duration, just available powaaar) , so I wired it up to 3x 4000mAh NIMH cells, perfect. When working properly this could chop long hair no issues.
So rechargeable again, but needs decent mechanical parts. Recommend? |

Been doing what's left of my own hair with clippers for about 25 years now - cheap ones are just that. To get them to work you have to set them to bloody noisy and it really isn't pleasant. Also the cheaper ones can pull rather than cut - not really my bag
Have used Babylis for a few years ( got 3 pairs cheap and i'm on the last set now) but they're not that great but then it depends how much hair you have left / how thick it is.
The cost of something decent ( Wahl) compared to how much you'll save on Barbers / hair product crap makes the purchase of something decent a no brainer.
Battery / Rechargeable are ok but if you want a proper cut - mains powered is just better as there's no battery to slowly die in them. ____________________ 2017 Z1000SX |

Real men use a blade on their scalp.
Once you've tried it, you'll never go back to clippers
