Heated grips getting power but not heating

When I bought my K6 Bandit last year the original owner had installed Oxford Heated Grips and they worked like a dream until recently. However now they're just not getting hot at all on either side.

The unit is getting power - the LEDs light up and I've tested each connection for voltage from the battery - but the grips simply don't get warm. Any ideas what might be up with it?

Thanks for the reply. The battery is brand new a couple of days ago and fully charged so I know that's absolutely good. I'll measure the resistance on the grips but I know the voltage is getting to each of the connectors from the battery so it's not a power supply issue. The unit is designed to flash if the voltage across the battery is low so I know that's not the problem.

Anything else it could be or is it looking highly likely that the control unit has simply failed?

Short of broken wires there isn't much that will make the grips themselves give up, there isn't much there to go wrong. If both have given up at the same time I would also guess at the control unit being at fault.

Another vote for the controller.

Oxford control units are under £30 on ebay.

If you are sure that you have voltage at the grips, disconnect them from the controller and check the resistance with an ohm-meter on a low range.

You should see something between 5 and 10 ohms, otherwise the heating element has either burned out, or become disconnected from the wiring.

Thanks all. Since they were relatively old the unit is long discontinued so I've plumped that the newer version of the HotGrips will be the same. The connectors are exactly the same so hopefully the control unit will replace the one I have and all will be hunky-dory. Thanks for your responses.
