so my first accident not a major one but enough to warrant some twat taxi driver to take my details anyway.

so came up to a bridge near where i live and went over it as a normally do, and theres a small blind spot where you cant see where the cars have stopped, so over this bridge i go and low and behold theres a group of cars stopped, i try to emergency break......to hard on the abck wheel and it slides around so i think to myself fk it, straighten the bike back up and try to avoid the car, i avoided most of the car but my knee managed to collide with the taxi cab and break its rear mirror....

after 3 years ive had no accidents involving other road users and im pretty shot down by just this event all of a sudden, my step dad whom has rode bikes his life and his dad before him have both said ive done bloody good to last that long without an accident even one as small as this.

and cause i know you all like your shoddy paint diagrams heres one, the x marks where i collided etc

Be glad you didn't crash sooner being on the wrong side of the bridge as you go over it.

I wonder if the fella has got whiplash from you breaking his mirror?

I would have thought that if there was a known blind spot then you should be going slow enough not to need to emergency brake?

You were going too fast for the road and the conditions. So there is something to learn from the accident.

Although, his "rear" mirror?

Glad your not hurt.

I would find out how much quickly as with a taxi he will be looking at loss of earnings - he cannot drive a taxi with a broken light.

Are you a bit of a nutter then?

Glad you're not hurt, we all fuck up from time to time, try not to let it get to you, take positives from it if you can, learn. Thumbs Up

But he went over it "just as he normally did", and he's never crashed before.

This was one of my principled disagreements with the local IAM; when the observer took a turn leading, he took a couple of crests clearly faster than he could stop, notwithstanding his apparent belief about having x-ray vision.

So how about if you were stopped and a taxi came flying over the bridge, hit you up the arse and broke your tail light? Confused

possibly the most logical and sensible post I've seen of yours.

Taxi driver was right to take your details. Maybe try and settle out of insurance, but as has been said earlier you were going too fast for the conditions.

Tut tut
'Going to fast for conditions' I'm afraid
I wondered if it was a hump backed bridge and the view ahead unsighted until you hit the peak,
but this view from roughly the beginning of your line
shows its as flat as a billiard table
Live and learn eh?

aye that it is, i dont blame him for taking my details heck i was more than willing to give them anyway, all going well this will be settled outside of insureance as ive already offered to pay for the repairs, just no call back at present so i dont know whats happening.

but yeah my normal route home and i got cocky didnt take into consideration the roads and i paid for it in a sense, so like has been said lesson learnt

You know what you did wrong, no need to tell you.
Only go as fast as you can see and stop in.

Assume there's ALWAYS cars over blind hills and corners.

It's the common routes init, I took a lady's mirror clean off her ford focus, filtering far too fast through two lanes of stopped traffic at a set of lights, I hit it with my mirror stalk, it cracked right off and landed right in her sons lap! (It was summer) i thought oohhhhh shi@t, she literally laughed and said "ohh not again, it happens all the time!" I'm not kidding she was so nice she even apologised for not finding one on eBay, apparently it was the ninth time! Cost me 106 quid and a bottle of wine, it could have being so much more of a head ache, the 100 quid was a very very cheap lesson, I'd chase him and try to get it sorted asap, loss of earning and all that shite..

Goodluck mate, hope it works out fast, cheap and smooth for you Thumbs Up

I'll say something though that looks like a death trap junction, maybe you need to ease up, theres all sorts of shifty possiabilities that could happen exiting that bridge section, those left and right broken junctions just looks scary at speed, nice section without those though.
