I found a picture of this weird contraption. It's called a Velo-Solex. Why is the engine on the front? Anyone know anything about it, engine capacity etc? Would anyone consider it for commuting? ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/fuzzbcf/

french thing
i think originally they just sold the engine bit that bolted on your existing bicycle as cheap basic transport, then went on to sell the whole thing as slightly less cheap basic transport
it drives directly onto the front tyre ____________________ "There are some things nobody needs in this world, and a bright-red, hunch-back, warp-speed 900cc cafe racer is one of them - but I want one anyway, and on some days I actually believe I need one. That is why they are dangerous."

Thanks for that link Craig.
What's 0.58kW in ponies? It can only be one or two max.
But then it does do over 200 miles per gallon and reaches a top speed of 23mph
I like the search that says 'Searching for something odd' ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/fuzzbcf/

For that price I'd rather have one of these :-

£999, 25 mile range, 14 mph (real world, not manufacturers figures)

For £500 you could buy a top notch light weight mountain bike for commuting, and have £499 left over to spend on more important things than motorised lazy machines
If you are going to ride something with pedals, use the bloody pedals! |

I can pedal faster than 14mph You'd end up knackering the motor by spinning it too fast when you engage it ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/fuzzbcf/
