 |
|
Been thinking about buying these since they offer a much improved range of vision compared to the bulbs already in my r6 can anyone shed some light as to whether blue bulbs on a bike are legal and if they are worth the investment

It says they're D.O.T (Department of Transport) approved*, and lights not D.O.T approved are obviously illegal for road use (duh).
Logic would dictate those are legal - in the US. Not sure if the same standards apply over here in the UK, but as G said, I'd just get normal white ones.
If you really want to have a blue tint to your lights, then get OEM HID (High Intensity Discharge) Xenon lights, which are a lot whiter but appear blueish due to the blue highlights at the extremes of their high intensity spectrums.
*Unless there's some clever wording there and they are in fact illegal. Technically, nothing is D.O.T approved since bulbs have to be certified as complying by the manufacturer of the bulbs. |

8500K is quite far away from pure white. I think pure white is closer to 5000-5500K. However, standard 'white' tungsten bulbs are more like 3000K (orange) anyway, so it's all a bit arbitrary. |
