Crying or Very sad I rode to Maidstone (from chatham) today straight after work. I set off at 6.45 and arrived at 7.00 which is good. Went and watched Team America! Laughing Funny film!
After the film (9.30) me and Dam_Buster took the RC cars (Nitro cars) down to the tennis courts for a blast. (both our cars have lights Mr. Green )

anyway, Dam_busters car was not working so we went back to his, fixed it and walked back to tennis courts (about 10 by this time) and I started my car up, Driving it for a while, Dam_buster turns his transmitter on and WOOOOOOSH BANG! My car looses all signal and goes full throttle into the fence...

Anyway, back to subject!

At 11.15 I set off home back to chatham (10 mile journey) I set off to a bad start and got lost in the bloody road diversions Shocked
THEN I got back on track and a mile or so later had to pull over to rip my chrome Visor liner off because I could see fuck all.

FINALLY I reached the top of bluebell hill where I nearly lost it on the roundabout (Sheer ice Crying or Very sad ) But luckily kept rubber side down.

Got home about 5 minutes ago...

And thats the end of my story. But I basically just wana say how horrible Cold winter night riding is. and Has anybody else had similar experience Laughing ?

Im guessing you all have

I've crawled home at 30mph because it was so foggy I could only see 2 white lines ahead of me. That wasn't pleasent, horrible not being able to see.

I had also forgot to take a clear visor with me so had to keep my visor up, which in turn allowed the cold to steam up my glasses, so needed to stop every few hundred yeards to clean them.

It's 12 miles journey from work, luckily the fog cleared after about 6 miles.

Never want to do that again.

Laughing

I was drifting my RC car on the frosty tennis court. Then It rolled backwards and I hit the throttle and jammed up my gears Crying or Very sad

So its another rebuild tomorow. I also NEED some different frequency crystals as Dam_buster put a nice crack in the front of my new shell! Shocked

Wow, I bet your hands and knees were sore after that!...and you still couldn't see the white lines even at that height - the conditions must've been bad! Razz Wink

From London to Bournemouth my visor kept fogging up every 10 seconds. Laughing Shocked

Had to do 60 on the motorway, and couldn't overtake safely. This was at 4/5 am.

It's nice riding in the dark and then having the sun rise. Cool

You can get some serious mileage done at that sort of time. Best when it is in the summer and the sun comes up on a totally clear sky, you have night and stars behind you in the mirrors and the first rays of sun ahead reflecting off little shreds of mist across the fields. Makes you remember what it is all about Thumbs Up

Definitely Stinkwheel. It was beautiful. A crisp sunny winter’s morning.

I will do that again, kinda made you feel "alive". Thumbs Up

Recommended.

Yer sure, the idea was to get the miles done "quickly" hehe, but at 60, and wiping visor frequenlty it took a longer than expected. Laughing

This part highlights your stupidity, you left when it was already dark so why didn't you take it out then. Its people like you who then decide to pull your visor down and ride into the side of a car who give the authorities the excuse to ban tinted visors and not consider letting bikers use them.

If you want to stop that misty sensation, I can heartily recommend a fog city visor insert. I got my first a few years ago and have always used them since, no more misting! (I do not work for them by the way). I'm sure others here will testify to their usefulness.
Rgds,

Nat

Just rode back from leeds today, doing 45-50 mph all the way back (middlesbrough) in strong wind and some rain.

Why is it that cars, lories and bus'es drive so close behind you when you are obviously being blown about in the wind and they can't overtake you anyway because of the double white lines or oncoming traffic? Mad Realy pisses me off, if I was to fall off i would then be ran over aswell.

Other than getting lost on the way back and the above I had a good 2 days camping experience.

Well, today i had to ride to college at 8 with a heavy gig-bag on my back, on the greasy/icy roads with fogged up visors and glasses - i had to navigate through london's finest traffic (namely Kenton Road) and filter past other street furniture and parked cars and the dumb secondary school students of St Gregs (nearly knocked one of them over as they FAILED to HEAR my LOUD bike - his field of vision was unrestricted but that never stopped him + a group of 20 crossing a busy 4 lane road)

The other night i rode home from my friends house and because i was so cold, i caned it for 3 miles at 50 mph through the same stretch on kenton road. Not advisable.

I wish winter was over so the salt wont constantly be fucking my bike Evil or Very Mad

After rideing back from leeds last year at 4am, totaly clear roads, no hurry to get anywhere, no lorrys to dodge, brilliant..

o/t Did get missdirected no less than 3 times to take the wrong exit by a girl friend i'd given a lift to/from leeds, just before i'd over this guy in a citoren (only other thing on the motorway) went off to the round about, got back on the road, overtook the same guy again, went to wrong way... probably confused him a bit Laughing

Defenately going to be doing all my distance rideing in the future in the wee hours from now on!

Only thing to be prepared for is the cold, bloody hell its cold at those times, odd combination of sunburn and frost bite the next day Shocked

But I got to say matey, I agree with shaun.

As soon as the night draws in and the cold evenings start for the onset of winter, there should be no heftily tinted/mirrored visors on the road!!!

But why have it in anyway, why not just take it out before you even left, its winter, goes dark at half past 4. The sun is never even out enough to actually need it at this time of year.

I disagree......100mph on a naked bike today and I was actually warm....sweating in fact. Miserable, old damp, wet and windy scotland my arse Laughing Thumbs Up

But yeah visor up or visor down, it doesnt really matter. Go past a lorry or car and they can chip a stone up into your lid. Don't say it wont happen either, one happened to me yesterday, stone SMACKED me on the upper arm from a lorry, bloody painful adn tehres a bruise too... Thumbs Down

But then again, I learnt from my mistakes from wearing one when I shouldnt, so I won't do it again. Thankfully I didn't crash
