Hi everyone, I recently bought YBR 2008 model. I am a new rider so for first few days I was going at high rpms all the time (7-8k). Everything was fine till bike started cutting out. Engine light would blink, rpms drop and if i release gas after few seconds it would rev again. One day it got to a point were it died on me and I couldn't start bike up and engine light would start blinking (didnt know at the time it was showing a fault code). After fondling a bit I managed to get it up going. I fueled tank up, ride for an hour or so and after that everything seemed all right. So now when she is cold I don't go over 6k rpms and everything is fine, if I try to push a bit further engine starts to cut out. What can I do to fix this ? I plan to clear air filter and check the spark plug, ill try to check out all wiring and stuff but I am mechanically impaired. Thanks !

replace the spark plug with a new one and check the plug cap and plug lead for damage, check for water in the fuel tank and if the bike has a carb loosen the drain screw on the float bowl and check for water /dirt from the float bowl drain as you loosen the screw, sounds like your fuel is contaminated or a duff spark plug /plug cap. also check for a sticky throttle cable and that the choke mechanism is not stuck in the ON position.

Pull the fuel line from the bottom of the tank , check if any water /dirt comes out , make sure the fuel tap is switched to reserve if it had a reserve position. If there is water in the tank it will also be in the carb.

As per your other thread... Put a new battery in.

Seriously, mine used to do it randomly...

Changed oil, spark plug, air filter - cleaned everything i could clean out - and it'd still do it every so often, when you least expected it.

The only fault codes i ever got were related to a problem with electricity either not getting to the CDi or the fuel pump (IIRC)

As it's not carbed - and has no reserve tank - stop faffing around and get a new battery in there! Laughing

i was thinking about that, when bike is parked i can see my front light pulsating if i rev it a bit. its not noticeable when riding tho, but ill ask my friend to borrow his battery its from 2014 model so it should be in good condition.

Deffo battery then... when mine's low - the indicators cause the headlamp to pulse...

For piece of mind - get a voltmeter on the + and - and see what you get with bike off and also at medium revs. (That'll show you broadly, if it's charging properly)

If the battery is anywhere near 12V with bike off - get it charged/changed.

Everything else is useless trying to problem solve if the battery's shagged.

In fact - never mind with the volt meter - just get it changed. Thumbs Up

All right time for an update, cleaned air filter and noticed that there was some petrol in air filter/box, ordered new and recently changed it, there was petrol again also got a new spark plug. im going to try to swap batteries with my friends bike tomorrow but i dont think this will solve the problem, is there anything else i can do ? I also added some new oil, ill try to change it completely soon. she goes fine till i hit 7k revs, if it is lower gear there is a bigger chance she will start choking and losing power.
can someone explain what may cause petrol in air filter ?
