just riding home and it just wouldn't respond all of a sudden then cut out and wouldn't start, leaving me pushing a nice 180kg 125 for a mile.

extra info(might not be relevant at all?)
- bulb on speedo clock went
-battery fine
-it happened after me fairly giving it some on way home(rushing)

before anyone says it i didn't have kill switch on or out silly (not this time)

any ideas appreciated

Cut the wires going to it and join them. I had intermittent issues with the switch and joining completes the circuit.

Which 125 weighs 180kg? that seems hefty, no? Thinking

I figure it only counts as extra information if you give the basic information first. Whistle

as already mentioned check fuses, failing that pull the sparkplugs and clean as they may be fouled due to repeated attempts to start.

A "sh*t! bike" doesn't help us much in providing you with the help that you need to get your problem fixed however the model and year of the bike would.. also if it's new or second hand may help.

Follow the wires from the sidestand switch to where it connects and disconnected them, cable tie the loose wires or remove the side stand switch entirely.. if you still want it on then dose it in WD-40 and try to start the bike again (could be wet inside or shorting out).

Side-stand switches cause more problems than they do help, one rain storm or bad weather and problems can be had especially on chinese bikes.

Also please be sure that you haven't drained the battery in your attempts to get it re-started, and make sure that you haven't attempted to start it to many times and flooded it.

Leave the bike sitting and attempt to start in the morning with your usual start up routine that's when you'll know if there was a one of glitch and it was a panic on the roadside that prevented it from getting going again or if the issue is still there.

General rule of thumb I use;

- Don't hold the starter button for more than 5 seconds
- Be careful how many times you attempt a re-start (as with flooding fuel above).

What's your engine oil level at?

Tell that to someone that set off without retracting their sidestand*

*Sidestands didn't always have cut-out switches attached.

I've done it once to luckily noticed half way down the road otherwise Shocked

For my bike and me at least i feel better knowing that if there is an electrical fault it's not because of the stand.

Depends. Some operate on open circuit, some on closed. You'll have to try it both ways.

I'd check the fuse(s) first though, and also get a basic multimeter.

Which reminds me, on what basis are you saying that the battery is "fine"?

Can you name three?

The frame is similar to a GS500, but I wouldn't infer anything from that.

As A long time Hyosung owner, I can offer the following.

Side-stand switches can be in place and look in good order but not work.
I know this by experience Crying or Very sad

I disconnected mine and inserted a loop and my bike has been working fine since Thumbs Up

Good to hear it's fixed, a quick ride within a handful of miles should make clear any issues (if any) that remain as you say though it's in working order so all in good Thumbs Up

If the same thing happens (out of the blue) again it may be worth just attempting to disconnect it on the roadside and see if it will work (to get you home).. might be worth including checking it's cleanliness as part of a regular maintenance check.

Always helpful to have your insurance recovery breakdown number at hand with a bit of spare credit, I've broken down miles away from home and didn't have either.. got home on a limb several miles away, the true weight of the bike soon becomes apparent when it wont start.
