Probably gauntlet type and the kind you can slip on and off really easy and effortlessly.

Big handled easy to use zip with gloved fingers.

Zip not essential, velcro wrist tab to stop em falling off when you don't want them to would be OK.

Defo need waterproof, decent level of protection would be good.

Pissed off squeezing into and wrestling off sports gloves.

Thanks guys.

I got a pair of IXS gore tex/leather touring gloves. Despite being expansive (~80 quid) I can definitely tell the difference with the 30 cheapo "waterproof" pair. I've been under quite heavy rain with them and they always remained dry inside Thumbs Up
I wear them with a pair of undergloves and they slide on perfectly and protectionwise they have CE cat.2 level 1 marking for what it's worth.
Also importantly despite being drenched a few times they still smell okay whereas the cheap pair just smells like an old pair of socks.

My usual gloves are Richa something-or-others (model's worn off). Totally waterproof, reasonably warm, very good feel for levers & switches. Cost about forty quid.

Maybe of interest; https://www.visordown.com/product-features/tested-sub-100-all-weather-gloves/21734.html#historysub

Although perhaps not as i've been using spada enforcers the last few years and the they reckon:
Test 1 Resistance test: 10/10
Test 2 Cold test: 1/10
Test 3 Waterproofing: 0/10

Cold test - yes on their own they're a bit cold in seriously low temps, but with a pair of thin ski-thermal gloves inside i've never had problems.

Waterproofing - they've withstood hours of heavy rain on the motorway without leaking noticably. They're not 100% waterproof, but for 50 quid - if you have a tight budget and get some thermal liners; i'd recommend them unless you're doing serious mileage many hours a day Thumbs Up

I have a pair of IXS goretex ones as well. £60 from J&S, haven't let any water in even in some crazy conditions. Thermally they're quite good too, and very easy to get on with the other glove on. Very happy and if mine had any issues I'd happily buy a new pair. They've done about 3000 miles in the last two months and don't show any signs of wear at all.

These are the gloves I purchased before they are great for being waterproof however if you are rushing to get them off the inside layer comes with your fingers. Meaning you end up standing at the other end with a screwdriver or some other pointed object to get the digits back into the right place.

Or if you are like me give up and grab other gloves out of your bag.

Don't get Spada Enforcer (Winter), they fucking STINK. Completely unbreathable and there's something in the lining that reacts to sweat that just smells like someone vomited on a wet dog. Well documented problem so it's not just me.

I only had that issue once in some crazy rain when I put them over my jacket rather than under.

I had Oxford bone dry gloves. They were cheap but I didn't expect them to be great but, 2 winters and my hands stayed dry and not too freezing, they started to break eventually and my commute has just increased to an hour with a new job so I invested in some Richa cold protect GTX for 100 notes. Goretex is guaranteed waterproof and the gloves have 2 years warranty, so I think after a year and a half, I may pull out a few stitches on the finger and get a new pair.

I like my Richa Cold Protects. They've yet to leak in 12 months, although someone on here didn't have much luck with them when they came off

After 30 plus years I have never really found the right glove, close, but not the one glove. I used to have three or four sets on the go in winter just so I would start off with a dry set. Once home it didn't matter. Summer gloves were different again.

Finally someone who agrees with me!

The plasticy lining makes my hands sweat even when it is cold, which makes me even colder and they also stink to high heaven because of all the sweat.

I now use unlined summer gloves with bar muffs through winter; warmer than the enforcers as my hands aren't swimming in a plastic bag of cold, fragrant perspiration.

My gloves were from ALDI for about £15, bone dry and warm down to about 6/7c , I have a pair of thermal liners on the way as at current temps of around 3c my hands are frozen after 45 mins going to work!

They are armoured though, and have been ridden through proper downpours with no problems, they are also nearly a year old and haven't noticed any issues with the threading or anything Smile
